Vodafone and Warner Music International announced that Vodafone customers in 14 countries will be able to watch a live, one-off show by Madonna on their mobile. Streamed live from New York's famous Roseland Ballroom exclusively outside the US to Vodafone customers, the performance will celebrate the release of Madonna’s new album, Hard Candy, which is available globally from today. Vodafone customers in Cyprus, Egypt, France (SFR), Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, South Africa (Vodacom), Spain and UK will have access to the show via their mobile phones on Vodafone live!

Vodafone is the first mobile operator in the Netherlands to introduce a digital photo frame with integrated sim card. Photos can be sent via the mobile network directly to the digital frame, even from abroad. The sim card in the frame enables a direct upload of the photos onto the screen. Distances are of no importance anymore and the best photo moments can be shared with your loved ones, wherever you are.

The WiMAX Forum, an industry-led non-profit organization committed to promoting and certifying interoperable WiMAX products, today announced that Vodafone, the world's leading international mobile Communications group, has become a principal member of the WiMAX Forum. WiMAX technology is set to allow high-speed internet access from laptops and other mobile devices over larger distances than previous technologies such as Wi-Fi. "Our membership of the WiMAX Forum will complement our existing memberships of other key industry bodies such as the GSMA, 3GPP and the Next Generation Mobile Network initiative," said Steve Pusey, Global Chief Technology Officer, Vodafone.

petitively-priced alternative to WiFi starting this summer, when from 2 July Vodafone drops its laptop data roaming prices to e12 per day (excl. VAT) for wireless roaming across Vodafone subsidiaries in Europe, Egypt, Australia and New Zealand, and with partners in France, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium (see Notes to Editors). With 'Vodafone Connect Abroad' customers will be able to use their laptops when overseas to surf the internet, check emails and access their company intranet, whether they are sitting in a hotel room, in a cafe or on the beach.

Vodafone is to offer the new eBay mobile service to customers, enabling them to keep up with their latest purchases, wherever they are and whenever they wish. The eBay application will be free to download on Vodafone live! or embedded on key customer Vodafone handsets. Launching in Italy initially, the new eBay mobile service will be available across Europe later this year.

Vodafone, Telefonica, Orange, and 3UK announced the results of their successful joint technical trial of TDtv. TDtv is the UMTS TD-CDMA-3GPP Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Services (MBMS) standard for mobile television solutions. The trial provided valuable insights into the technology's capability and successfully demonstrated how existing spectrum can be deliver mobile television and other multimedia services.
