Customers of Sprint can now shop and buy products from more than 30 online retailers right on their Sprint phones through one easy-to-use mobile commerce tool. With the launch today of Mobile Shopper, powered by Boulder-based mobile shopping company mShopper, Sprint is the first US wireless carrier to launch a mobile shopping portal, bringing the online shopping experience to the wireless phone. Sprint data subscribers can access Mobile Shopper at no additional charge to make quick and easy price comparisons and purchases directly from their handsets.

Sprint is partnering with twelve-time Latin Grammy winning rock superstar Juanes to offer exclusive mobile music and video of his highly-anticipated new album “La Vida… es un Ratico” (Life is a Moment). The record’s first single “Me Enamora” premiers on the Sprint Music Store September 4, providing Sprint customers with Power Vision phones an exclusive preview of the full album set for release on October 23. Sprint will also be the exclusive wireless sponsor of Juanes’ 2008 US tour. The campaign underscores Sprint’s commitment to the Hispanic market and, with over 95,000 downloadable Latin music titles, Sprint offers music lovers the technology that provides instant wireless access to their favorite tunes directly from their phone.

Sprint announced that the name Nextel Direct Connect will represent Sprint’s product portfolio of Push to Talk service and devices, regardless of network platform or device type. Additionally, Sprint plans to expand the Nextel Direct Connect portfolio in early 2008 with new device choices and capabilities, giving customers a wider variety of phones to meet their productivity needs. Customers purchasing or upgrading to a new Nextel Direct Connect handset will continue to have the capability to connect instantly, coast-to-coast, with the community of more than 20 million existing Nextel Direct Connect subscribers on the world’s largest and fastest Push to Talk network.

The Nextel Experience, is a 10,000-square-foot interactive fan exhibit focused on Sprint Nextel products and Nascar Nextel Cup Series displays. The exhibit, designed and managed by JHE Production Group, will be open at every Nascar Nextel Cup Series race this season. Broward County Public Schools, located in South Florida, is the first school district in the nation to implement a real-time, location-based wireless weather alert system that will notify the faculty and staff of severe weather conditions that threaten the safety of athletes, coaches, students and spectators. The system utilizes Sprint GPS-enabled handsets on the Nextel National Network equipped with a weather alert application from WeatherBug, a leading provider of live, local weather information services. WeatherBug Protect is the first alert system to integrate live streaming weather information from the 8,000 WeatherBug Tracking Stations located throughout the country primarily in neighborhoods atop schools.

The Inkster Public Schools, consisting of four schools (two elementary schools, a middle school and a high school) and approximately 1,600 students, is one of the first districts in Michigan to implement this GPS (global positioning system) solution. The district’s 25 buses have been outfitted with mounted Motorola i355 GPS-enabled handsets. Each handset will be equipped with Comet Tracker from ActSoft, a GPS-tracking application, as well as Nextel Walkie-Talkie service, enabling instant voice communication between drivers and the district’s transportation office. It also gives drivers the capability to contact 911 in an emergency.
