Sony Ericsson revealed a new addition to its Walkman mobile phone portfolio. For the music fan on the move, the Sony Ericsson W380 Walkman phone combines a unique clamshell design with all the music cred users expect from Sony Ericsson’s Walkman phones. The phone packs in never-seen before features, including Gesture control which allows users to mute calls with a wave of their hands. There is also an external display that comes to life only when you need it; to show the name of a music track or to let you know who is calling.

The Sony Ericsson W960 Walkman phone will start to ship from November 2007, Sony Ericsson announced today. The W960, a potent combination of slim UMTS and Wi-Fi enabled phone with high performance media player, will be available in selected markets across the globe in time for the Christmas season. The Sony Ericsson W960 was unveiled in June 2007 and marks a next generation of Walkman phones. With room for up to 8,000 songs* and finger-touch navigation around playlists on the large touch screen, the days of taking an MP3 player and a phone with you are definitely over. The 2.6” display also serves as an excellent viewfinder for a 3.2 megapixel camera and as a widescreen for watching video in TV quality.

Sony Ericsson revealed a first glimpse of its new PlayNow arena. This marks the latest evolution of the PlayNow experience, and highlights a new direction to provide consumers with a unique multimedia experience, both on the phone and via their PC. Sony Ericsson introduced PlayNow in February 2004 as the easiest way to pre-listen and then purchase polyphonic ringtones directly on your phone. The service has proved a hit with consumers and is now available in 32 countries around the world, with annual downloads through both PlayNow and Fun & Downloads having reached more than 200 million.
