Sony Ericsson announces a new Walkman phone; the W880 / W888 build on the success of hit-models such as the W810 and to broaden the appeal of the Walkman phone. 20 million Walkman phones have been sold to date. Sony Ericsson also announces a suite of music accessories designed to enhance the Walkman phone listening experience. At just 9.4mm thin, the W880 is the slimmest Sony Ericsson phone yet and combines the full Walkman phone experience with a device that fits easily into your pocket. The 1GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) provided in-box gives you room to store up to 900 full length tracks, whilst the host of innovative music applications make it easy to get music onto your phone in the first place & search through play lists once its there.

Intended to deliver Cyber-shot phones to a broader audience, this new phone helps make sure you never miss a shot. The K810/K818 Cyber-shot phone is a sleek, high-performance device boasting a 3.2 megapixel camera including auto focus and Xenon flash. Innovative applications such as Photo fix help to further improve the quality of your pictures, even after you have taken them. Illuminated Camera Icons to the side of the main keypad, which light up when in camera mode, allow the user to access camera menu options at the touch of a button.

Numerous rumors have been published on the internet about a new Sony Ericsson K550i candybar cellphone, the latest Cyber-shot model. The Sony Ericsson K550i will properly be announced during the 3GSM World Congress 2007. The K550i features a 2 Megapixel camera, and will be compatible with both GPRS and EDGE. As all latest cellphone models of Sony Ericsson, the K550i will be equipped with internal Memory Stick Micro (M2) memory. The Sony Ericsson K550i will become available in both black and white. For now, that's all the information we have, but we will keep you informed as soon as we have received more information!

Sony Ericsson today announced it has reached agreement in principle for acquiring the Swedish software company UIQ Technology AB, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Symbian Ltd. UIQ Technology, which uses Symbian OS, licenses the UIQ user interface and application development platform to mobile phone vendors worldwide. Sony Ericsson is already a licensee of UIQ Technology, and has been working closely with the company on UIQ version 3.0, which is included in Sony Ericsson’s P990 smartphone, M600 messaging phone and W950 Walkman phone.

Sony Ericsson today announces the launch of a revolutionary new concept, Night Tennis. Combining internationally renowned DJs, Groove Armada and Darren Emerson with a fashion extravaganza, thumping tunes and a game of tennis, it promises to rock Madrid. Night Tennis will run over two evenings, 9th and 10th November, as part of Sony Ericsson sponsored entertainment, competitions and events during the week of the Sony Ericsson Championships. Eight players will take to the court wearing specially designed neon whites to serve up a new type of tennis. Played in pitch black, with UV as the only source of light, it promises to revolutionise the way tennis is played and watched.

Orange and Sony Ericsson today announce a partnership and integrated marketing campaign aimed at delivering the best mobile music experience to their European customers in 2006. Orange will roll out the recently announced Sony Ericsson Walkman phones across its European footprint in 2006. Orange and Sony Ericsson have in addition collaborated on an exclusive nine-month European sponsorship deal with multi platinum selling and Grammy Award winning Sony BMG artist Christina Aguilera. The partnership takes a fully integrated approach, with both parties working together for the first time across core business areas, including mobile phones, marketing communications, music services, content, sales and distribution.

Sony Ericsson has been voted as the winner of the Member of the Year category of the Java Community Process (JCP) Program’s Annual Awards. The announcement was made by the JCP Program Management Office at an awards ceremony held last night during the JavaOne Conference. The JCP Program held its 4th annual JCP Program Community Event where awards in five different categories were revealed. The nominations had been made by the Executive Committees (ECs), and the winner in each category determined by Executive Committee vote.
