Sony Ericsson, the manufacturer that pioneered the development of smartphones, unveils the P1 as the latest addition to its P-series range. “In one sense the Sony Ericsson P1 is an evolution of our P-series smartphones, as it pushes forward the best attributes of its predecessors,” says Steve Walker, Head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson. “At the same time there are also significant improvements in design, speed and battery performance.” Building on the feature set of earlier models, the Sony Ericsson P1 supports a wide range of push email solutions and Web browsing applications, plus connectivity via hi-speed UMTS and Wireless LAN.

Sony Ericsson announced its first mobile phone to support Mobile Services Architecture (MSA), the next-generation Java umbrella standard (JSR-248). The Sony Ericsson Z750 clamshell phone is the first phone based on Sony Ericsson's Java Platform 8 (JP-8), supporting a range of new Sony Ericsson Java programming features including instant messaging / chat and presence based functionality, handling banking, payment transactions, user identification and authentication through secure encryption technology, mapping and other location-aware applications.

Sony Ericsson announces the W660 - a Walkman phone which places an emphasis on style and feel. With a tactile finish that just begs to be touched, it's a classic-design 3G phone available in two distinctive colours, Record Black and Rose Red. Also introduced is a compact new music accessory, the Snap-on Speakers MPS-75, which let you play the tracks stored on your Walkman phone out loud.
