Truphone announced a unique softphone application built on Facebook Platform that enables Facebook users and their friends to call each other for free. Among the 'firsts' introduced by the Truphone 'Call Me' application is a moveable button that can be dropped anywhere on Facebook that accepts attachments, enabling users to: embed their 'Call Me' button within Facebook messages; post their 'Call Me' button onto their friends' walls and drop their 'Call Me' button onto Facebook group and discussion boards. The Truphone 'Call Me' application is available to all Facebook users. Users do not need a Truphone account or a special phone in order to use the application.

Whether waiting in line at the movies, riding in a taxicab, or on the go, Alltel customers can now shop from their BlackBerry smartphones. Alltel Wireless America’s largest network, providing coverage across the nation, introduced Digby Powered by Alltel, a free mobile shopping service for new Research In Motion (RIM) BlackBerry smartphone users. As a result, Alltel customers will have easy access to products from an expanding list of retailers that includes Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Godiva Chocolatier, and online retailer FTD. Customers can easily access Digby by going to the Alltel website from their mobile phone and selecting Digby.

Samsung is opening its second Customer Service Plaza on Thursday 6th December 2007. The plaza will cover North London, Hertfordshire and Essex and will be a place for Samsung customers - existing or potential - to drop in and seek support and advice on Samsung products, discuss servicing requirements, or simply arrange an in-home repair at a convenient time to the customer. The Customer Service Plaza will be a fully functioning diagnosis and repair centre.

Sprint and the National Football League (NFL) are giving Sprint wireless subscribers access to live NFL game coverage on their mobile phones. Coverage will include red zone drives and other key moments of all games televised on NFL Network in 2007. The coverage will be provided by NFL Network which will produce a three-hour studio-based show that will be streamed live on NFL.com and via wireless exclusively to Sprint subscribers. Highlights of that coverage include live game action when a team enters the red zone, during scheduled time slots at the :15 and :45 marks, and at other critical moments in a game.

GyPSii the leading geo-location and social networking platform and service for mobile phones and other Internet-connected devices, confirmed that the Symbian version of the GyPSii application has been accredited by Nokia for its N95 and 6110 Navigator mobile phones. GyPSii combines - in a web-based application - a social networking platform, location-based news and services such as search and friend-finder, and user generated content-creation and sharing.

MobilePeople has announced the launch of its mobile map solution liquid MAPs developed especially for the needs of directory publishers, directory enquiry services and media companies. The new application differs from many other mobile maps currently on the market in that it utilises Scaleable Vector Graphics (SVG) embedded in a Java environment. This means that mobile interactive maps are now finally available to the mass market as Java runs on the vast majority of handsets currently in use. It also means a faster and better defined map for the consumer, while there are enhanced opportunities for monetisation, thanks to integrated advertising, for the publisher.

Visto announced that it will provide access to corporate mobile email on the Apple iPhone across Europe. Closely following on the heels of the availability of Visto Mobile for the iPhone in the US, the company has extended its support to those regions that are actively selling and promoting the Apple iPhone. Using Visto Mobile, iPhone users will be able to securely and easily access push corporate email without downloading any additional software to the iPhone or requiring any changes to security policies or corporate firewall settings.

Sony Ericsson revealed a first glimpse of its new PlayNow arena. This marks the latest evolution of the PlayNow experience, and highlights a new direction to provide consumers with a unique multimedia experience, both on the phone and via their PC. Sony Ericsson introduced PlayNow in February 2004 as the easiest way to pre-listen and then purchase polyphonic ringtones directly on your phone. The service has proved a hit with consumers and is now available in 32 countries around the world, with annual downloads through both PlayNow and Fun & Downloads having reached more than 200 million.
