Certgate GmbH, Nuremberg-based specialist for mobile security solutions, has presented the certgate SmartCard Service for Android mobile phones at the IT security trade fair it-sa 2010. The certgate developers have realised this interface to the certgate SmartCard microSD to provide Android apps with access to the hardware certificates. The market shares of the mobile operating system Android have grown constantly in recent months. Analysts are expecting Google Android to oust iOS from second place amongst the mobile platforms (behind BlackBerry) worldwide in the coming months.
