Nokia Lumia 800 review

The Nokia Lumia 800 is the first smartphone that emerged from the collaboration between Nokia and Microsoft. The Nokia Lumia 800 operates on the new Windows Phone Mango operating system. Previously, the now outdated 'Windows Mobile' was interesting for its synchronization possibilities. Various applications/settings have been present for a while, only it remained a relatively forced mobile version of Windows desktop variant. The new Windows Phone has been rigorously rearranged: everything is arranged from the user’s point of view. After unlocking the Nokia Lumia 800’s screen, the menu is visible in two parts, the so-called ‘tiles’ and the main menu.

• Read our full Nokia Lumia 800 review.

On the outside of the iPhone 4S you will not directly observe any differences compared to its popular predecessor, the iPhone 4. But appearances are deceiving. The Apple iPhone 4S uses the new iOS 5 operating system, offers a dual-core processor, intelligent assistant Siri and a further improved 8 megapixel digital camera. The dual-core A5 chip image processor makes the iPhone 4S an extremely fast smartphone. With the intelligent assistant Siri you can always and everywhere ask for help. Siri is smart enough to understand what you mean.

• Read our full iPhone 4S review.

HTC Sensation Smartphone review - The first impression of the HTC Sensation smartphone is pretty good. The HTC smartphone is very similar to the HTC Desire, due to the rounded corners, except for a set of four touch keys on the bottom. The screen is large and next to power button and volume keys, a headset connection and a microUSB connection are found. I personally do not find the back very appealing, due to all the colors and stripes, but the HTC Smartphone is comfortable to handle. The HTC Smartphone boasts 7 main screens, in which the user can place several shortcuts and Widgets.

• Read the full HTC Sensation Smartphone review.

The enormous advance of BlackBerry on the consumer market and a few attractive new cell phones have done the brand good. Partly thanks to BlackBerry Messenger, or Pinging, BlackBerry is here to stay. However, the competition has also been busy, and the enormously popular Android operating system and the Apple iPhone do not make it easy for the BlackBerry product Research In Motion (RIM). This makes us extra curious about the user experiences of the new BlackBerry Torch.

• Read our full BlackBerry Torch review.

As a pioneer of Android smartphone suppliers, HTC has developed a wide selection of cell phones with the Android operating system, which gives them a great advantage over the competition. LetsGoMobile has happily reviewed many smartphones. The HTC Desire was the latest in this series. HTC has since extended the desire series with two phones, namely the HTC Desire Z and the HTC Desire HD. In this Desire series, user-friendliness and innovation are priorities. HTC Sense, the special user interface on the Android platform, clearly shows this..

• Read our full HTC Desire HD review.

The tablet concept has already existed for a while, but the tablet only really broke through with the arrival of Apple’s flagship, the iPad. The iPad appeals to a large group of users, the majority of which are consumers. Although Apple has gotten a head start because there was no competition, the industry has since woken up. Samsung is one of those manufacturers that sees opportunity and has jumped into Apple’s wake with the new Samsung Galaxy Tab. Additionally, Samsung is aiming at business users and consumers.

• Read our full Samsung Galaxy Tab review.

Now that many cell phone specifications have become standard, we go a step further, and the importance of a good operating system becomes more and more evident. On the one hand, this is for recognition and ease of use, and on the other hand, functionality and available content. After the arrival of the Apple iPhone, Google also launched a new operating system; Google Android. Now, Samsung is also presenting a standard operating system, Samsung Bada. That may be important for its own identity, but the question is if it is possible to compete with the existing systems.

• Read our full Samsung S8500 review.

At the start of 2009, HTC brought the T-Mobile G1 onto the market, which was our first experience with the Google Android operating system. It took a little getting used to, but we quickly saw this platform’s potential. Other manufacturers followed quickly with different high-end mobile phones. LG is now introducing a model for the other end of the market: a prepaid package for a favorable price. Prepaid and Android do not seem the most logical combination, partly due to the use of data. Perhaps we are heading in a new direction.

• Read our full LG Optimus review.

Since Social Media is becoming more and more important, it is important for current cell phones to include these. Luckily, the Android platform has different applications available so that you can put your latest updates online anywhere you are. These applications can be downloaded in the Android Market.
The Garmin Dakota 20 is sort of a smaller version of the Oregon. It’s about € 50 cheaper, but that does not mean that it is of lower quality, nor that it offers less possibilities. Choices have been made that will appeal to different user groups. I think it would be a good partner for a cycling tourist. I traveled to South Africa with the Garmin Dakota 20, and I ran into things that were out of the ordinary.

• Read our full Garmin Dakota 20 review.

LG is doing well again, as recently the Korean brand introduced its first Android smartphone onto the market, and additionally, an extensive line of smartphones with the LG S-Class User interface has become available. This interface ensured a pleasant control in the LG Arena and the LG Viewty smart, and has been developed even further for the LG mini, which of course arouses our curiosity. LG has sought collaboration with DJ Tiësto for the LG mini. The special Tiësto Edition has extra content so that you can enjoy your phone immediately.

• Read our full LG smartphone review.

After being the first to bring a smartphone with the Google Android operating system onto the market, HTC also clearly shows the early experience with the Android platform in the latest models. Earlier, LetsGoMobile has had the pleasure to test the T-Mobile HTC G1, HTC Magic and the HTC Hero. The Android operating system is very hot and every brand is joining up in order to also have Android in their portfolio. The possibilities, the design and the open character make the Android platform highly desired.

• Read our full HTC Legend review.

iPad… There it is, after many months of rumors and speculations with Steve Jobs’ keynote speech, last January, as the highlight, Apple’s newest product is on our desk, to play the leading role in this Apple iPad review. With unknown strategic precision, Apple’s marketing department has managed to put a product onto the market that knows two extremes from the very start. It is seen as spectacularly successful by the Apple fan side, and as senseless, not-adding-anything-new by the other - often non-Apple-owner - side.

• Read our full Apple iPad review.

With the arrival of the Vivaz, Sony Ericsson demonstrates that they are taking a different road. Often Sony Ericsson cell phones can be recognized immediately as such, but with the Sony Ericsson Vivaz that is certainly not the case. One of the most important features that are mentioned in communication about the Sony Ericsson Vivaz is the possibility of recording video in HD resolution.
It wasn't until recently, however, that the digital photo frame was first launched onto the electronics market, and the demand for these kinds of devices is still growing. Sony is one of many companies trying to meet this demand, and so far, Sony has done an excellent job. Gradually more new versions are being launched, and the S-Series contributes by adding a number of models to its line. Sony is not only working on creating high-quality photo frames, the company is also determined to make the devices work flawlessly with every other Sony product.

• Read our full Sony photo frame review.

The LG GW620 is LG’s first Android Smartphone available on the market. A logical step, as many brands have chosen this relatively young operating system. In the meantime, the Android platform has become indispensible in the mobile communication world. Such an operating system is of course very important. It determines everything. If the phone runs smoothly and quickly, if Flash support is possible, and can applications be developed and installed? These are questions that not everyone thinks about when they make a new purchase, but they certainly help in making a good choice.

• Read our full LG Android review.

Since Sony was founded in 1946, the company has supplied a wide range of electronic devices. Besides BRAVIA TVs, VAIO computers and, of course, the Sony PlayStation game console, Sony has also worked on audio from day one. The Walkman trademark has been marked on portable digital media players for a long time now. Sony offers a number of product lines within the Walkman series: the W-, A-, S, and B-series.
After a previous collaboration between Samsung and Giorgio Armani, about two years ago with the Samsung P520, the companies have once again joined forces to develop another cell phone together. This time, it is the Samsung Armani 2 B7620 phone. The difference between the previous Samsung Armani and the Armani 2 lies mainly in the functionality.
Operating systems play an increasingly more important role when choosing a new mobile phone. Besides the design and the speed, many of its functionalities strongly depend on the phone’s operating system. Nokia always uses Symbian OS for high-end mobile phones. Symbian enables installing applications, and also managing your agenda and email account is easy and straightforward. Besides Symbian, Nokia also uses a further developed Open Source operating system, the Linux-based Maemo.
Satmap launched its first product, the Active 10, at the end of 2007. The launch in itself was a good initiative, while there are not that many suppliers for this type of GPS devices, and it is always good to have a bit of a competition. Reading on the Internet about the Active 10, particularly at the time the business was just taking off, we find many complaints, partially correct and partially caused by the greater comfort other devices offer.
High resolution digital cameras are no longer an exception on mobile phones. It started a few years ago with an integrated VGA camera, which we thought to be very innovative at the time. Currently, however, there are phones on the market featuring an 8.0 or even 12.0 Megapixel camera. Yet the difference in quality does not go unnoticed. Whereas all the attention seems to go to the snapshot camera, the video capture function seems to have been pushed into the background a little bit. This undoubtedly has to do with the design of a new (internal) zoom lens and all the related hindrances that occur when integrating it into the phone whilst at the same time ensuring it doesn’t become too bulky.

• Take a look at our Nokia N86 picture gallery.

Times may be hard for global economy, Samsung clearly doesn't care. Where many companies have gone into what I would almost call; 'sleep mode', Samsung seems to carry on at the same speed as they are used to. Samsung is the first manufacturer after HTC, to launch a mobile phone on the market, based on the Google Android operating system. With only a slight delay compared to HTC, Samsung is still the early bird. The bright AMOLED touchscreen monitor and the LED flash are unique features compared to previous Android mobile phones.

• Read our full Samsung i7500 review.

Besides the fact that HTC is the current market leader when it comes to Windows Mobile smartphones, HTC is also the first phone manufacturer to realize the full potential of the Google Android operating system. Not only was HTC the first brand to introduce the Android cell phone, it also caught an early lead over competitors with the applicability of the Android operating system. In addition to the T-Mobile G1 and the HTC Magic, the HTC Hero is the first simlock-free Android cell phone by HTC.

• Read our full HTC Hero review.

With the arrival of a newer version of Windows Mobile, devices equipped with this software have now been renamed genuine Windows Phones. These so-called Windows Phones can be recognized by a Windows button below the screen. This hardware key will be included on all new Windows Phones. The HTC Touch Pro 2 already features this key. The main improvements are found in the design, in improved operation no longer requiring a stylus, thanks to an interface that has been specifically designed for use by fingers, and the support of flash in the web browser. .

• Read our full HTC smartphone review.

GPS receivers are strongly on the rise. Since the year 2000, consumers are able to purchase a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver with high precision. In addition to tracking GPS coordinates, 'geotagging' is also becoming general knowledge. The i-gotU GPS travel logger is one of these handy GPS receivers, automatically storing routes and enabling 'geotagging' of your pictures. In other words; storing geographic data of a picture, including time and date. I took the i-gotU GT-100 GPS receiver with me on a long walk in the woods.

• Read our full GPS system review.

You deserve a medal if you are able to find just one person who, up until now, has never heard of Nokia. The Scandinavian leader in the field of telecommunications sets an example within the market. Almost every single one of their mobile devices turns out to be a success, whether you're a corporate user or just an occasional caller. However, to simply be the biggest is not enough; it is equally important to fulfill the wishes and needs of the consumer. That brings us to the question whether or not Nokia is able to reach this goal with the new Nokia 7310 Supernova.

• Read our full Nokia Supernova test.

The applications of digital photography are countless. Especially combined with the cell phone; quickly uploading a picture to Hyves or FaceBook, creating an online photo album to share your special moments, or just to make a print. In the early days, digital pictures were mainly kept on the computer, but in recent years a change has taken place. The picture quality has improved significantly over the past two years. Know that, makes us even more curious about the results of LG's latest camera hit; the LG Viewty Smart smartphone. The specifications certainly seem promising.

• Read our full LG GC900 review.

The positioning of Apple gives the brand just that little bit more style and luxury than other brands. An Apple product tends to give the buyer a special feeling. The iPhone 3Gs is the third generation Apple iPhones after the iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G. The latter is identical to the Apple iPhone 3Gs.
Whether you’re going to the beach, to the swimming pool or on a mountain biking tour; also in summer time, our mobile phones come with us wherever we go and at any time. That makes the summer quite a risky time for our phone, considering the fact that sand, dust and moisture are often the main causes of damage to our beloved mobile phones. Just about every well-respected A-brand offers this type of phone within their assortment.
The operating system often proves vital to your opinion on the user-friendliness of the phone, and also reveals a lot about its speed and applicability. Until recently, Windows Mobile or Symbian was generally used for the corporate market, but these days, this selection has been expanded by the arrival of the Apple and Google Android operating system. This is why a successful phone like the HTC Diamond is not able to live on its popularity forever, and is in fact more likely to pave the path for prolongation of the success for its successor, the HTC Touch Diamond 2 in this case.
Many recently introduced mobile phones feature a touchscreen. Although it is considered a trend, not everybody seems keen to rely solely on a touchscreen, and it are exactly these consumers that demand a general keypad. They're hesitant to switch to a full touchscreen operated mobile phone. The solution for this group is the Samsung Tocco S8300. As a result of the high sales numbers, LG is well on its way to reach a solid Top 3 ranking. And with the many product introductions announced by LG Electronics, this aim may well become reality.
Nokia is known to divide its GSM devices into various categories. These categories can be recognized by the first figure of the type number. The 1*** series for example, is the simplest model. The series 6*** and 9*** aim at the corporate user. The 8*** series phones have a more stylish appearance, whereas the 7*** series is the trendy line of the Finnish company. Most mobile phone users are aware of this.
GPS (Global Positioning System) has become fully integrated into our society in the past few years. It presents many possibilities for the average person. It's hard to imagine life without a car navigation system. And in the meantime, going for a walk with a GPS device has also become very normal. There are various advanced GPS devices available for this, as well as the so-called 'travel recorders'. The Qstarz BT-1000X travel recorder is this kind of GPS receiver.

• Read our full Qstarz GPS receiver review.

The craving for many phone functions makes it difficult to find a truly old-fashioned, reliable mobile phone without too much additional functionality. Current mobile phones are also more fragile than before, and repair costs out of proportion. This is bad news for a large group of consumers working in physically demanding jobs who need a strong phone that can stand a few bumps. Sonim offers a solution to this group: the Sonim XP3 Enduro. Able to handle a few bumps is even an understatement: you have to exceed yourself in order to be able to damage this mobile phone!

• Read our full Sonim XP3 Enduro review.

Today's households are no longer complete without Samsung. Samsung seems able to turn its hand at anything, and is daring enough to tread virgin ground where other corporations prove to be more conservative. This also goes for the Samsung S2. By now, we are familiar with the Apple iPod Shuffle and the Creative Zen Stone. This pair wasn't appreciated by everyone, mainly due to the fact that MP3 players without a screen simply aren’t trendy. But maybe they will be, with the launch of the Samsung S2, which is trying to surpass its competitors with its very beautiful appearance.

• Read our full Samsung S2 review.

The digital camera replaced the traditional photo camera, the memory card did the same to film, and now even a nice wooden picture frame threatens to become outdated. The arrival of digital photo frames allows you to display hundreds of pictures in the living room without having to make prints first. However, some consumers do not settle for slide shows; they like to have more possibilities with their picture frame. Toshiba meets this demand by launching the JournE series of digital photo frames. The Toshiba M400 supports video, music and even digital TV.

• Read our full Toshiba M400 review.

The Nokia 5800 is often thought to be the first Nokia touchscreen mobile phone. However, in 2003 the Finnish company already launched the Nokia 7710 with a large touchscreen, and since then, no new models were added. This model did not become a success, partly due to the strange way of calling with this device. The microphone and the speaker were placed on the side, making it rather awkward to hold the cell phone. At present, the 5800 XpressMusic is able to strengthen Nokia's portfolio and battle the touchscreen phones of other brands.

• Read our full Nokia 5800 review.

Touchscreens come in a wide array of types and sizes. Naturally, they all serve the same purpose; to operate a mobile phone without using buttons and keys. Yet it is striking to see how they all have a different operation. The main difference is found in press-sensitive and warmth-sensitive touchscreens. Besides this difference, there are hard and soft touchscreens applied to mobile phones. The hard touchscreens, such as the ones integrated in the Samsung Pixon and the HTC Touch HD, don't require you to push hard, since their sensitivity is better. With these small differences, the operation of a touchscreen either stands or falls.

• Read our full HTC Touch HD review.

Nowadays, mobile telephony is more than just communication. Not only should it meet customers’ needs, it should also be fun. Look around you in a train or at the airport. People seem to be more self-centered and appreciate a little distraction at any time. This fast society would not be complete without music, movies, full internet access and a digital camera.
Sony was founded by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita. It wasn't until the company changed its name to Sony Corporation that things really started to take off in the USA. Today, Sony is a renowned company because of its Playstation, VAIO computers, television sets, digital cameras and, of course, the new Sony Walkman series. The Sony Walkman NWZ-S639F belongs to the S-Series and is, just like its siblings of the A-series, equipped with a thin design and a music, photo and video mode.
During the first few years of mobile telephony, the call function was the most important one. As time went on, emphasis was put on the availability of people. And not much later, it was the durability of the mobile phone that became the most important factor. At the beginning of the 21st century, a new trend set in; SMS text messages. The latest trend is back to functionality; you phone as a small pocket computer with all the functions for corporate as well as private use. T-Mobile is hoping to bring innovation on a bigger plan with the G1 Android mobile phone.

• Read our full T-Mobile G1 review.

The size of mobile phones has drastically changed over the past few years. After the run of compact mobile phones, when innovation could not produce more in that regard, the functionality of the phone became more important again which is obvious when you see the Blackberry Curve 8900. Full QWERTY keyboards and large touchscreens started appearing on mobile phones due to the advance of the Internet and increasingly more SMS text messages.
Compared to large brands in the mobile phone market, such as Nokia and Samsung, LG certainly has some catching up to do when it comes to the worldwide market share. However, there does seem to be some growth. The mobile phones by LG are gradually becoming more popular and the consumer seems to have increasing faith in LG.
The Nokia Supernova series adds a number of colorful mobile phones to the Finnish company’s assortment. Low-budget as well as mid-end mobile phones are available in this new series. ‘Supernova’ is an unexpected choice for the name of a mobile phone line.
Nowadays, it seems to have become a trend to launch a new model mobile phone with both a type number and a real name. Just like many other brands, Samsung too gives its new mobile phones a genuine name. Recently, we have seen this happening with the Samsung INNOV8, the Samsung OMNIA, and now once again with the Samsung Pixon. In addition to a more positive feeling, this name-giving also offers information about the cell phone, unlike a type number.
A mobile phone and digital photography have become so intertwined over the past few years, that there's no possibility of ever separating them again. A camera simply belongs on a cell phone. It started several years ago with a simple VGA camera, after which it soon became possible to shoot high resolution pictures with a mobile phone. Of course, this is partially marketing strategy; as sometimes, cameras with lesser specifications do turn out to take better pictures. This is because the quality not only depends on the amount of megapixels the camera offers. It's obvious we're in for some surprises as far as cameras inside mobile phones are concerned.

• Read our full Samsung INNOV8 review.

Samsung Netherlands launched the Omnia in "Huis ter Duin" in Noordwijk, the "home" of the Dutch football team, as the football enthusiasts among us will probably know. Within a couple of years only, HTC grew to become a dominating smartphone brand. The cell phone itself looks neat, although not particularly exciting. In my opinion, the menu of previous Motorola phones was not all that user-friendly. However, it has improved on the Motorola ZN5, where the menu is straightforward; consisting of nine icons.

• Read our full Motorola ZN5 review.

Think of Apple and you think of computers, notebooks, MP3 players, iPhones and iPods. Apple is a prominent player in the field of digital music, thanks to its portable iPod music and video players. The iPod nano is the latest portable music player of Apple belonging to the already fourth generation. With a mere 6mm of depth, the fourth generation Apple iPod nano is extremely flat with a streamlined, oblong design. Half of the front is covered by the 2 inch liquid crystal monitor. The other half carries the click-wheel, so very familiar for the iPod.

• Read our full iPod nano review.

It is becoming more and more difficult for current manufacturers to put a unique mobile phone into the market. Many cell phones are equal when it comes to their functionality, and there are only minor differences between current models and their successors. Unlike a few years ago, when mobile phones were gradually taking on more functionalities of other devices. These new models definitely made a difference at the time. The Nokia N95 brought fame to Nokia, which eventually resulted in the N95 8GB version. For now, we are curious as to what Nokia is offering us with the new N96.

• Read our full Nokia N96 review.

Research in Motion used to aim mainly at the corporate user with the BlackBerry mobile phone, however, private use of Internet and email on a mobile phone is becoming quite common, and the current BlackBerry product portfolio therefore now aims at a broader target group of regular consumers. The latter appreciates design and appearance of their phone whilst the enterprise user tends to go for functionality, which is something the BlackBerry clearly provides, thanks to its perfect synchronization possibilities. The BlackBerry Bold 9000 has obviously taken more than one thing into account.

• Read our full BlackBerry Bold review.

Garmin is treading new ground with the Colorado series. An updated appearance and a more structured amount of buttons. The monitor has gained a higher resolution whilst the Rock 'n Roller makes its appearance. Just as is the case with mobile phones, the handheld can be adjusted to our use via profiles and we can share data wireless. Sporty users can connect a cadans meter. For me, the main change is the introduction of Wherigo, an enhancement that is similar to geocaching yet offers a lot more than just searching for caches.

• Read our full Garmin Colorado 300 review.

The Sansa View series is already the next generation of portable media players by SanDisk. Even at first sight, the SanDisk Sansa View looks sleek and neat; the device fits perfectly in my hand and has an expensive businesslike appearance. The SanDisk View is available in black.
Mobile phones are used for business purposes more and more often. A growing group of consumers carries a business model in addition to their personal mobile phone. The requirements for business devices are usually more complicated than those for regular handsets. The 'on the road' aspect is gradually becoming more important. The Samsung U900, also known as Samsung Soul, features a 5.0 Megapixel digital camera, FM radio, Bluetooth, a memory that can be enhanced, and the option to make video calls.
Mobile Internet is gradually becoming more important. The number of people using their mobile phone to find information about the weather/traffic, or to send and receive emails, is growing by the day. Nokia meet the demand for multimedia devices with their N-series. The handsets belonging to these series are perfectly suitable for Internet access, making video calls, navigation and many more functions. Generally, surfing the Internet on a small device such as a mobile phone works fairly well, however, if you frequently use the Internet, you do notice the lack of a full keyboard and touch screen on the Nokia phones.
The Creative Zen Stone and the Stone Plus are two extremely compact, lightweight MP3 players with a nice, round yet sleek design. Both MP3 players have been equipped with an external speaker, which is spoken of highly, thanks to its size, its power and the possibility it offers to share your music with other people. "It's almost unbelievable that small MP3 players like these have speakers that sound this well," states Creative's CEO. Can the MP3 player live up to the high expectations?

• Read our Creative Zen Stone Plus review.

We tested the Packard Bell Eclipse not so long ago, and this time we will scrutinize the Packard Bell AudioKey Max. This MP3 player is ranked right below the Eclipse in the Packard Bell assortment, and offers a tad more functionality than a regular MP3 player, including several innovative features. In addition to listening to MP3s, the device lets you record voice recordings and listen to the radio. Furthermore, a neatly finished USB 2.0 connection is applied for easy transfer of files to your AudioKey Max MP3 player. The small size and entirely black design with chrome finishing give this MP3 player a stylish and elegant appearance. The Packard Bell MP3 player is available for approximately 60 Euros.

• Read our full Packard Bell MP3 player review.

Recently Samsung Netherlands introduced their latest mobile navigator. It is already quite interesting to walk around with this kind of mobile navigation system in your pocket, though it becomes even more interesting when it's combined with mobile photography. Although the new Samsung G810 mobile phone is not considered to be the successor to the Samsung G800, we do find its 5 Megapixel image sensor combined with a 3x optical zoom. This combination is similar to the features of last year’s standard compact camera as far as specifications on paper are concerned. How well mobile photography with the Samsung SGH-G810 does in practice, we will show through the following sample photos.

The latest innovation of HTC; the HTC Touch Diamond was introduced during a press conference. This press conference was held in the media plaza at the 'Jaarbeurs' building in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The HTC Diamond is the first device based on Windows Mobile 6.1. There doesn't seem to be a vast difference between Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 though. The main differences are found in the battery's standby time which has been increased with 8% to 20% and the fact that it is possible to operate this mobile phone from a distance. In addition, the HTC Diamond features the new TouchFLO 3D technology. TouchFLO 3D is a farther developed version of the HTC TouchFLO technique which we have come across in the first HTC Touch.

Cell phones are offering more functionalities every day. A growing crowd seems to consider calling less important than being able to use email, Internet, digital camera and navigation possibilities. The consumer seems mature enough now for the smartphone, or the multimedia computer as Nokia likes to refer to it, and for a good reason. The Nokia Communicator, the mother of all smartphones has had some transformation during the eleven years of its existence. The device was already years ahead to start with. Still it remained a device tailored to the needs of the business user. Moreover; the first devices were rather heavy as far as weight was concerned and they were not the cheapest ones you could lay your hands on.

• Read our full report about Smartphones

When you are looking for more functionality than the average device offers, you have the choice from a broad range of smartphones and PDAs. Both types of devices not only differ physically but also as far as operation system is concerned. The better you know which functions you are going to use on a frequent base, the easier it is to make your choice. The market for PDAs that won't let you call but only use email and visit the Internet decreased drastically. Most current PDAs are handheld computers that also offer the option to call.

• Read our full report about Windows Mobile vs Symbian

Nokia has introduced a couple of new software additions in the past few months for various Nokia mobile phones. Remember for example the Nokia Ovi Internet browser and the new NGage games. Besides these new software additions, the N82 has also been equipped with an integrated GPS receiver, navigation software and a five Megapixel digital camera with Xenon flash. The N82's digital camera is able to exceed any other camera phone with ease thanks to its superior image quality, speed and user-friendliness. Nokia awaken some high expectations here and the question is; can Nokia live up to these expectations?

• Read our full Nokia N82 review.

During the year 2007 Samsung have placed various YP-series music players on the market. And the in January 2007 introduced YP-K5 has already seen its successor; the YP-S5 multimedia player. The K5 was known as a light MP3 player with a so-called slider system and a touch screen. In our review about the K5 we called it ‘a very innovative MP3 player’. As always there were some issues that needed improvement such as the Samsung K5 not offering video play function. We will compare the two MP3 players in the following Samsung YP-S5 review as far as differences and similarities are concerned.

• Read our full Samsung S5 review.

With the introduction of the Samsung G600 in July 2007 everybody was convinced it would take a while for Samsung to introduce a new five Megapixel camera mobile. How could we get it so wrong, because at the end of October 2007 the Samsung G800 was already available for checking out at a Dutch dealer event. The SGH-G800 is unique in its class thanks to its three times optical zoom and face detection. According to Samsung the G800 has been equipped with a camera that can fully compete with a regular digital compact camera. Samsung also claim that the Samsung G800 leaves all mobile phone competitors far behind. Is Samsung truly able to fulfil the promises they made? You can read it in the following LetsGoMobile Samsung G800 review.

• Read our full Samsung G800 review!

A digital camera inside a cell phone is not exceptional these days. It becomes a different case when a 5 Megapixel digital camera is integrated in a mobile phone. And although there are more handsets equipped with a 5 Megapixel digital camera, for example the Nokia N82, Samsung G800 and the Sony Ericsson K850i, there is a vast difference in the quality of the camera. The KU990 is the first 5 Megapixel cell phone of LG. It looks like LG is starting to take mobile photography seriously. The LG Viewty is up to date with its large touchscreen, 5 Megapixel digital camera and multimedia player.
The Jabra JX10 Cara Gold Bluetooth headset is designed by the famous Danish designer Jacob Jensen. This 24 carat gold-plated Bluetooth headset is the most elegant headset available at this moment, a good reason for LetsGoMobile to take a closer look into this product. The beautiful black box of the Jabra JX10 Cara Gold is on the large side, unlike the headset. It carries a gold stripe across it to indicate that we are dealing with the gold edition and it closes nicely with a magnet integrated in the box. The SanDisk Sansa Express features a dual-colour OLED monitor, weighs a mere 30 grams and is very compact with its dimensions of 79 x 25 x 17mm. The SanDisk Express MP3 player's sound is of acceptable quality.
More and more cell phones are able to offer HSDPA or UMTS thus offering options like MSN, Skype, Internet and Email; all very attractive functions for the business user. Up until recently not much attention was paid to the design of a business phone. Most of them were just grey or black models. Often they came with a belt clip because their large size did not allow these huge models to fit into trouser or shirt pockets. Samsung dares to put an end to the grey episode and is introducing the SGH-i620 cell phone. The Samsung i620 is a small, based on Windows Mobile 6, handset with a QWERTY keyboard. The Samsung i620 is available in black, white and pink. Business women are also able to lay their hands on a stylish business model..

At a Samsung dealer event in the Netherlands I had the change to get my hands on the upcoming 5 Megapixel mobile phone; the Samsung G800. The Samsung SGH-G800 will be introduced later on this year, at least in the Netherlands, and target the multimedia consumer who is also into mobile imaging. The Samsung SGH-G800 is an ultra thin slider mobile phone and show off with a great design. The designer Samsung G800 cam phone has a digicam-like metallic design and features a 5 Megapixel digital camera. The handset is one of Samsung’s top models and has to bring Samsung into the high resolution market for mobile phones. This segment is interesting for the manufacturer, the consumer is willing to pay some extras for mobile image quality.

The American company SanDisk is famous for its design and production of the flash memory cards. For the past few years the company has also been making MPEG-1 layer III products, better known as MP3 players. Just like with all electronic consumer products, big developments have been made in the MP3 player market in the past decade. Large memory capacities, lower prices and smaller dimensions are some of the features which result in these developments. Additionally, there is a current trend of putting as many features as possible into one device. The difference between MP3 players, USB sticks, digital cameras and mobile phones become smaller every day.

Another new mobile phone has been unveiled at the HTC press event held in the Amsterdam Arena, the Netherlands. When HTC introduced the Touch everyone was thinking of iPhone. You can say what you want to say, but the reality is that since the introduction of the HTC Touch in Asia and Europe, US will get the Touch later on, already 800.000 have been sold. The TouchFlo technique of the HTC Touch made its debut and after the first user reviews it became clear to HTC that this technique was experienced as intuitive, user friendly and not less important, fun to use!

Nokia N76 Review

At this time, the most mobile phones are designed in tight form and have trendy colors. Nokia follows this trend completely and designs trendy mobiles with striking colors. The Nokia N76 phone is such a design mobile, which is available in red and black. It is true, these colors are not very striking, but the combination color and form manages to provide a trendy mobile phone. The Nokia N-series mobile phones are in general true multimedia mobiles; a media player for music and film is standard present, as well as a digital camera.

Nokia 5700 XpressMusic review

For some time I had almost the idea that Nokia was disappearing from the market slowly. The models were all a lot alike and there weren’t a lot of exciting things going on. But I think Nokia’s developers were preparing for what was yet to come. The design of the Nokia phones is becoming more and more stylish and fits perfectly in this time and day. The Nokia 5700 XpressMusic is such a handset with a trendy design. At first sight, it seems like there’s nothing special about the Nokia 5700, but when looking a bit further you will notice something unusual about the 5700 XpressMusic. I had the chance to test the Nokia 5700 for a while; my findings can be read in the following Nokia 5700 XpressMusic review.

Casio Exilim V7 review at LetsGoDigital

LetsGoDigital published their Casio Exilim EX-V7 review. To start with, the Casio EX-V7 is a slim camera, but most remarkably, it has an incredible zoom range for such a compact camera. It has a 7x optical zoom, which is equivalent to a 38 to 266 mm zoom. And that in such a compact model! To prevent movement blur, the Casio EX-V7 has a built-in image stabiliser; the image sensor can shift. On top of that, the camera has an Anti Shake DSP; as the camera detects movement in the subject, it searches for the ideal ISO rate and shutter speed.

LG KE850 Prada review

After the success of the LG Chocolate, LG gets more and more position within the mobile phone market. LG is going for phones with a tight, innovative design with intuitive operation. Just have a look at the recently launched LG Shine, a tight, shiny device, which is not operated with a joystick, but with a scroll dial. Prada, a designer brand with their main office in the fashion conscious city of Milan, places new fashion trends on the fashion market since 1913 and was pioneer in the area of leather goods. In 1989, Prada launched their first Prêt-à-Porter collection. Prada’s designs are often simple and tight with subtle accents. In practice, Prada and LG seem to suit one another perfectly.

Samsung SGH-U600 review

At the start of this year Samsung introduced a new mobile in their Ultra Edition line at the 3GSM in Barcelona. One of the phones introduced was the Samsung SGH-U600, also known as the Samsun Ultra Edition 10.9. The Samsung U600 is a mobile phone that appears at first glance to fulfil all the wishes of the average mobile phone user. Approximately 8% of the profits return to R&D so that Samsung can continually put new, innovative phones on the market. The Samsung U600 is a slider phone equipped with a 3.2 Megapixel autofocus digital camera with flash, an MP3 player and a microSD card with extendable memory and some touch sensitive keys. How the phone performed in practice can be read in the following Samsung SGH-U600 mobile phone review.

Sony PlayStation 3 review

Those who grew up in the time of the Sinclair, Atari and Commodore gaming consoles, where games were the order of the day, or those who entered the gaming world solo or online with their PC, but who chose digital photography as a ‘serious and responsible’ hobby, will reminisce, with melancholy, about last March 23rd 2007 when the Sony PS3 was introduced officially in Europe. Nevertheless, it doesn’t have to remain nostalgia. I found the perfect excuse to account for the purchase of a Sony PlayStation 3; the PS3 console has a few built-in card readers that make it possible to play your digital (family) photos in large format in a digital photo album.

Nokia N95 review

During the Photokina 2006 Nokia presented the N95. This caused a lot of commotion in the mobile phone camera world. Now the multimedia giant is also available for testing, and we have made the first test shots. Judging by its specifications, the Nokia N95 does not currently have an equivalent. The Nokia N95 is everything that the N-series stands for, which is a real multimedia telephone. It has all you could imagine, such as GPS, an MP3 player, a video player or WLAN, you name it. In the next Nokia N95 test you can read if these functions all perform well, if they have any use, and if the built-in 5 Megapixel camera really is as good as Nokia wants us to believe.

LG Shine review

LG Electronics are currently market leader on the field of electronics in Korea and claim a considerable market share in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and England where they have been active for some years now. This year, in January 2007 to be precise, LG introduced the LG KE970 Shine. The slogan LG has brought into this world together with the LG Shine is: "Born to shine" which it certainly does! LG will undoubtedly try to make the LG Shine equally successful as the LG Chocolate or even to surpass the latter's success. The LG Shine surely has its appearance speaking for itself but what will we find in its interior? How the LG KE970 Shine performed in practice can be read in our LG Shine review.

HTC Herald P4350 review

HTC is a slowly but surely rising brand. The telephones they produce look professional, have a perfect hand fit and are stacked with handy Windows Mobile based functions. Also coming up lately are telephones equipped with a touch screen. On the one hand a touch screen is definitely a great surplus but on the other hand it is not handy when writing an SMS, MMS or an email. HTC has equipped the HTC Herald P4350 with the solution: sliding the telephone to open it, will give you an extended keyboard, small but useful. We have had the HTC P4350 in our possession for a period of time to carry out some extensive tests. Noreve delivered an additional leather case of high quality to protect the HTC P4350.

HTC Trinity P3600 review

Recently I've noticed that the trend of making telephones increasingly minuscule has been slowing grinding down to halt. Telephones are getting bigger again and luckily, the number of functions is increasing along with the format. LCD Touch screens are becoming more common and a good MP3 player and digital camera are now ordinary extras that everyone takes for granted. When the HTC P3600 was introduced a while ago, it was ahead of its time. It is a candy bar phone with only a few keys on the bottom for taking and ending calls and operating and scrolling in the menu. The HTC Trinity P3600 also has a touch screen which can be operated with a pen and your finger.

Parrot Photo Viewer review

In the year 1994 Henri Seydoux founded Parrot in Paris. Parrot's complete assortment consists of products that fully aim at the cell phone and Bluetooth market. They manufacture products such as loudspeakers you can connect to your cell phone or computer via Bluetooth and Bluetooth hands-free sets. Monitoring the Parrot assortment for a while we found out that their products have become more innovative and more beautiful in a short period of time. Recently a new Parrot product attracted my attention; a 7-inch digital photo frame that lets you transfer your pictures to the internal memory through Bluetooth. Parrot has been so kind as to send me a sample which gave me the opportunity of testing the Parrot Photo Viewer 7".

Motorola KRZR K1 review

Motorola was founded in 1928 by the brothers Paul and Joseph Galvin. Company names are often based on a combination of names or the place where the product is made, but not Motorola. Where does the name Motorola actually come from? In 1930, the Galvin MFG. Corporation (as Motorola was then called) built the first commercial car radio. The radio became known as Motorola, from motor car and ola which was then a commonly used suffix in the audio world, (ola also means sound wave or wave). The company did not adapt this name until 1947. The first 'mobile' phone came out in 1983. Since then, Motorola has striven to be a progressive and innovative brand.

Samsung YP-K5 review

Samsung's designers know how to make an attractive device, and thanks to the Samsung K5 that came out quite recently we again acknowledge the designers' skill. At first, this modern MP3 player looks like an ordinary MP3 player, but if you take a closer look, you will see that it has no buttons. A quick look at the products they are currently launching is enough to tell us that Samsung is on the up and up. They know how to strike the right balance between style and elegance, user friendliness and innovation, to give products just that little extra. All this, is of course, a matter of personal taste. After the MP3 player had been fully charged and turned on, I got a pleasant surprise in the form of Madonna's new CD on the Samsung YP-K5.

HTC's phones are perfect for business people who travel a lot, or anyone who just wants that something extra from their phone. You can MSN, Internet, take photos, play games and - wonders will never cease - even make phone calls with HTC's telephones. Most HTC models are great for text messaging because they have a QWERTY keyboard. LetsGoMobile received the HTC Excalibur S620. Blackberry addicts and text message freaks will love this phone as well as anyone who appreciated good sound quality!
