Lumia 520 storage capacity

The Nokia Lumia 520 has an internal storage capacity of 8GB, of which about 6GB remains free, considering that the Windows Phone 8 operating system uses about 1.95 GB. This internal memory would be too small for a high-end smartphone, but we should not forget that this is a phone that is worth less than €200. In this case, the Lumia 520’s storage capacity is certainly not bad, especially not if we think that there is a microSD card slot available for memory cards of a maximum of 64 GB. Additionally, the purchase of the Lumia 520 smartphone gives you 7 GB free cloud-storage via SkyDrive.

Downloading Nokia Lumia 520 apps

Via the Windows Phone store, you can download free as well as paid Apps, Games and Music. A number of suggestions are given automatically, and you can search for every app desired. Unfortunately, there are not so many applications available yet for the Windows Phone 8 platform as we are used to for the Android or iOS operating system, but the most popular applications are available and of course the selection of the Windows Phone store gets bigger each day. When there are updates available for apps that have already been downloaded, this is indicated and installed automatically, if desired.

Nokia apps for the Lumia 520

Next to the applications that are available via the Windows Phone store, Nokia also has a number of handy apps pre-installed on the Lumia 520. HERE Maps is a Nokia app that can display offline maps of more than 90 countries, including information on attractions, restaurants and much more. The advantage of this Nokia app on the Lumia 520 compared with Google Maps is that there is much more available offline, so that you can save on internet usage costs. Additionally, the Lumia 520 is equipped with other Nokia apps such as HERE Drive and HERE Transit, so that the popular 9292OV application becomes unnecessary.

Microsoft Office Mobile

A very handy application on the Lumia 520 for business smartphone users is the Microsoft Office app for Windows Phone 8. This allows you to open and edit PowerPoint, Word and Excel files. Of course this does not work as well as on the computer, but small adjustments make such files work fine via the Microsoft Office Mobile app. PowerPoint, Word, and Excel files can be uploaded from the SkyDrive cloud- storage or email, for example. This application makes the Nokia Lumia 520 an interesting smartphone for the business user that is looking for an inexpensive Windows Phone 8 smartphone.
