Download Android Applications

By clicking on the actual menu key, we arrive at the menu. For the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, this menu is made up of three tabs. This Sony Ericsson smartphone uses the Android Platform, although the Sony Ericsson Look & Feel is truly present. This is not a first, but for this Xperia Arc, it is just a bit more. A disadvantage of this is that if there are a lot of changes or a lot of additions, the Applications that you are used to running on your Android Smartphone may not be guaranteed to work on the Sony Ericsson Arc. On the Android Market, you can find diverse Android Sony Ericsson cell phones. The developer has to find a suitable solution to this.

8.1 megapixel digital camera

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has an 8.1 megapixel digital camera. The camera-application is started by selecting camera in the menu or with the camera key on the side. Sometimes it is still handy to have a real button to shoot photos with. The chance of a photo that is not sharp is just a bit smaller. If you would rather work with the touch screen to capture a shot, you can activate the touch mode in the camera menu. Touching any place on the touch screen is enough to take a photo. Starting up the camera-application in the Sony-Ericsson Arc is pretty fast: you can shoot a photo within two seconds. When the camera-application is started, you see a number of icons to the left with settings, and the last five icons that were made are to the right. The focus and shutter release is also very fast, within two seconds as well.

Shooting photos with your smartphone

When using the camera key, you have to make sure that you push it down enough, otherwise the camera only focuses. Sometimes the image does not stay in the frame; it only shows up on the side. This makes you doubt if the photo was successful. While shooting photos, you can consult the quick menu by swiping over the screen from left to right. The most important settings are the resolution, the scene mode and the flash settings. In the extra menu the geolabels, white balance and brightness are found. The captured shots are very beautiful on the crystal clear screen, so beautiful that they disappoint when editing on a computer or other device. Most photos are good, but there is a lot of noise and the colors are much stronger on the phone.

Music & Video on the Sony Ericsson Arc

Multimedia is never a problem for Sony Ericsson. They were one of the first to come out with Track ID: a standard application records a piece of music and then runs it through a database to find the artist and title. This is very handy if you hear a song you like when you are out somewhere, in the pub, for example. Track ID can also be found on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. There are also two Widgets on the start screen, one with which you can quickly go to Music, Video or images and with which you can operate the player while the listening to music. Galley, music and an FM-radio are also found in the menu. Want to acquire music with the Sony Ericsson Smartphone? That is also possible. You can find all your favourite artists for the PlayNow app.

Sony Ericsson music player

T he music player looks pretty neat, an album cover, when available, is shown, and the design is very sharp. There are three icons visible on the bottom: information about the track that is playing, search for information about the artiest online and the music library. All the content is shown alphabetically here, and you can quickly switch between artist and title by selecting one underneath. You can also use the search bar on top. The sound of the speaker is good, and with the standard 3.5mm headset connection, almost every headset can be used. Images and videos are shown staggeringly well on the 4.2” display with Bravia Mobile Engine. The screen is very clear and sharp.
