S ony Ericsson has also embraced the Android platform, and due to Android’s success, it was of course, not a bad choice. Sony Ericsson’s sleek designs are often recognizable by their menu structure as well as the design. The success of smartphones and operating systems such as Android and iOs – of course also thanks to the large amount of Applications and mobile content - ensure for enormous growth in mobile data usage. Together with the arrival of diverse messaging Applications, this is a threat to the cash cow of the networks. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc : First impression

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Smartphone’s packaging is of a reasonable size with a blue side and on top it has a beautiful photo which nicely displays the cell phone’s sleek design. There are a few icons on the bottom that represent the most important functions. Upon opening the packaging, we immediately find the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. The accessories are found underneath, including a headset with extra earphones, a data cable, which is also used for the charger, and the user’s guides. Next to the headset, no standard accessories are included. The front of the Xperia Arc is completely black with three keys on the bottom. The side has a 3.5mm headset connection, the volume key, the camera key, and the connection for the charger. The power key and a micro-HDMI connection are found on the top. Despite its large screen, the phone is very slim.

After unlocking the screen, one of five screens appears. All main screens can be personalized with Widgets, shortcuts and folders. By simply pushing the main screen and holding, the settings appear with which you can select their arrangement. There are five icons found at the bottom of the touchscreen: Media, Messages, Contacts, Telephone and the menu key. It is possible to personalize these shortcuts: when arranging the main screen, you can move the icons around. The menu key turns into a recycle bin where you can place the unnecessary Widgets and shortcuts.
