HTC Sensation main screens

The HTC Sensation smartphone boasts seven main screens, in which the user can place several folders, shortcuts and Widgets. You always return to the first main screen with the home key under the main screens, and if you push it twice, then you get to see all the screens in miniature, so that you can quickly make a selection. The renewed HTC Sense interface, which is an HTC layer on top of the Android operating system, is graphically very beautiful and has many fun HTC Widgets, such as the weather Widget. Underneath HTC Sensation’s touchscreen, three keys are found; to choose a phone number, to adjust the start screen settings, and the actual menu key.

HTC Sensation menu

The menu key brings us to the list with available options and applications. The HTC Sensation’s menu is made up of different tabs which can be scrolled through by sliding a tab up or down. The tabs are separated by a horizontal line and all the icons are in alphabetical order. The HTC Sensation’s tabs are pretty handy, but it is more logical to slide from left to right. Sliding up and down makes it seem like you can stop anywhere, like in a phone book, only the tab goes a bit too far, which makes searching a bit tricky.

8 Megapixel digital camera

The HTC Sensation has a built-in 8.0 megapixel digital camera with which you can capture anything and easily share it with your friends. The camera application can be started up by selecting the camera option in the menu or via a shortcut on the main screen. The application starts up nice and fast; within two seconds you can start shooting photos with this HTC smartphone. Once started up, five icons appear on the right side of the screen. These allow you to switch to video mode, to activate the camera on the front of the phone, to adjust the flash settings, to add effects and the key in the middle is used to shoot a photo. The HTC Sensation does not have any ‘hard’ keys on the side of the smartphone, which can be quite handy sometimes.

Photography with the HTC Sensation

The photos shot with the HTC Sensation look nice on the screen. You can easily scroll through the photos by moving from one side to the other. If you review them quickly, the photos become smaller, allowing you to go through all the photos even faster. The photos look surprisingly good on the computer screen. They are sharp and have the right color representation. You can even shoot nice photos in low light. This is not bad. The HTC Sensation also has a flash. The settings touch key makes a small menu appear with some simple settings such as ISO, up to ISO 800, face detection and resolution. The standard settings give good results. Perhaps adjusting the ISO can help in low light, but I do not miss the extensive amount of settings that are normally available. Shooting photos with the HTC Sensation is nice and easy.

HTC Sensation multimedia

T he HTC Sensation smartphone offers a lot of multimedia functionalities. The first one that appears in the menu is the FM-radio, which requires a main phone to be connected and to function as antenna. All the photo and video files are then found in the ‘Gallery’. Finally, all music is neatly arranged under ‘Music’ in the main menu and the player is very good. Searching for your favorite music can be done by album, artist, genre, etc. Thanks to the HTC Sensation’s large screen, the photo and video files can be viewed nicely. In brief, there is no shortage of multimedia applications.
