HTC Desire review | Google applications
HTC Desire Google phone
HTC Desire supports Google applications
Of course, you can also simply enter your Google account in the HTC Desire, in order to gain direct access to the e-mail function, calendar-items, and contacts. The HTC Desire also has Google Maps, Google Talk, and YouTube. With your Google Account, you also get access to the Android Market. This market place for applications has a lot of content. The Android Market is an important function of the Google phone. Nowadays, the success of an operating system mostly depends on the availability of applications and other content. The Internet browser also works very pleasantly, it is able to display all kinds of websites, and even Flash is supported. The latter is often an item that is lacking in other phones.
HTC Desire navigation
Google Maps navigation system
Thanks to the Android operating system, applications can easily be installed, so that you can choose from different navigation solutions. The phone comes with Google Maps included, for which the navigation function is available in BETA for most locations. Google navigation works surprisingly well. Clicking on/searching for a location is simple. You can also search for a business name, which is very handy in practice. A neat thing that happens upon arrival is that the standard navigation display turns into Streetview, so that you can see the photo of the destination to see if you truly arrived there. Google Maps Navigation is available free for Android cell phones, including spoken instructions.
HTC Desire battery
HTC Desire stand-by time
According to its specifications, the 3.7V 1400mAh battery that comes included with the HTC Desire can achieve a maximum stand-by time and a maximum talk time of 6 hours. While using the HTC Desire, the stand-by time turned out pretty good. A few days, 3 to 4, can be achieved when the phone is used little, and when it is used intensively, 2 days are possible. Despite the fact that this stand-by time is relatively good compared to other phones, it would be nice if other solutions could be found. With all the functions, battery capacity is clearly lagging behind.
HTC Desire memory
HTC Desire storage capacity
The HTC Desire’s standard memory is 576 MB. To get everything out of this smartphone, this is of course not enough at all. That is why the memory can be extended with a microSD/SDHC memory card up to a maximum of 32GB. This amount of memory is especially necessary for Film and Music files. For standard use of the HTC cell Phone, the 576 MB is enough to start off with. You can at least download some applications, although the camera-application does require a memory card in order to function at all.
