Of course, you can also shoot photos with the HTC Desire, thanks to the integrated 5.0 megapixel digital camera. Everything can be displayed nicely thanks to the large, bright, AMOLED screen. The camera-application can be started up in the menu by choosing camera. If you use this often, you can of course make a quick link for it on the start screen. There is no additional camera key. Starting up the camera is nice and fast so that you can photograph almost immediately.

The entire screen is used as a viewfinder, and there are three icons visible. You can quickly go to the shots you have taken, adjust the flash settings, and zoom in with these icons. If you want more options, then there is an arrow found on the left side. This opens up a menu in which you can add an effect, adjust the ISO-values, and switch between photo and video mode, for example. The maximum amount of resolution for the video-recordings with the HTC Desire is 800x480 pixels (WVGA).

S hooting photos is accomplished by pushing the joystick. Focusing is a bit slow, but with a bit of patience, it is doable. If you want to focus somewhere else, you can simply touch that place on the screen. The photos taken with the HTC Desire’s 5.0 megapixel camera are fair. It is hard to take a good photo, because there is often too much or too little light. Everything looks pretty reasonable on the screen, but it does not translate so well in print. The camera performs the best when it is nice weather.
