The menu also has three tabs. You can switch between them by moving your finger back and forth. Most options, including Facebook, Twitter, and Google are found under the first tab. The second tab is aimed at media and applications, and most other settings are found under the last tab. It is also possible to move the icons so that you can arrange your own order. Working with tabs is pretty handy, as you want to find everything quickly in the menu. In the LG Arena and Viewty Smart, the order was preset according to a number of categories, which also worked pretty pleasantly. For the rest, the menu structure is fairly similar.

Internet and E-mail functionality

The LG Mini has clearly improved its webbrowser. The internet pages are loaded quickly and displayed clearly. The browser can even show Flash. That is unexpected for this phone, but it does ensure for a pleasant user experience. Internet use is made even easier by the touchscreen, which also reacts really well. Zooming in is done simply by double clicking or by moving your fingers away from each other. This way, internet pages that are not specifically meant for cell phone use are easy to use on the LG. Next to the Internet, e-mail is also easily installed; under email you can choose Microsoft Exchange or Other. When Other is chosen, you often only have to enter your username and password, and your standard settings are automatically loaded.

5 Megapixel digital camera

Of course it is also possible to capture fun moments with the LG Mini. Thanks to the 5.0 megapixel digital camera, you are always able to share everything with friends and family. The lens is placed in the corner and except for a small LG logo, it is the only thing to be found on the back. The camera application can be started up by holding down the quick key in the upper left-hand corner, or by choosing the camera function in the menu. Starting up the application is very fast. You can start shooting immediately.

Shoot photos en videos with the LG GD880

After starting up the application, tabs can be found to the left and to the right of the viewfinder where the settings can be adjusted. On the left you can switch to macro mode, you can zoom in, adjust the white balance, or go to other settings. On the right side you can choose captured shots, shut off the application and switch between photo and video functions. The LG Mini shoots photos with a maximum resolution of 2560x1920 (5MP) and videos with a maximum resolution of 640x480 (VGA).

F or more settings, you can choose the viewfinder’s Options, and then you will see a dial with all the options such as Scene mode, ISO-values (up to ISO 800), Effects and resolution. The options are available, but for these settings you have to go into a separate menu, so that these options are not used very often. When taking a photo, focusing takes place, but unfortunately this is not as quick as starting up. The shutter release speed is about 2 to 3 seconds. The photo is, however, captured quickly. The photos taken with the LG Mini GD880 are pretty good. The colors are clear and are a good, realistic representation, and the camera reacts well to lighting. If there is low light, however, it is not so easy to shoot a good picture. Mobile photography can therefore only be done with sufficient daylight.
