HTC Legend review | Introduction
HTC Legend review
A fter being the first to bring a smartphone with the Google Android operating system onto the market, HTC also clearly shows the early experience with the Android platform in the latest models. Earlier, LetsGoMobile has had the pleasure to test the T-Mobile HTC G1, HTC Magic and the HTC Hero. The Android operating system is very hot and every brand is joining up in order to also have Android in their portfolio. The possibilities, the design and the open character make the Android platform highly desired. What HTC also does very smartly and beautifully is adding their own layer on top of the operating system. This makes it not only an Android cell phone, but maintains it as a true HTC smartphone, which makes it distinguishing. Especially in the latest version of HTC Sense, there are handy Widgets and the design is just a bit better than the standard Android design.

The HTC Legend’s packaging is very compact, which we often see in HTC; there is a type of drawer in which the phone is placed. The packaging of our test sample is entirely white, but the final commercial packaging includes specifications and images of the HTC Legend smartphone. Underneath in the packaging, there are accessories included. In the HTC Legend this includes a headset, a data cable, a charger and the instructions booklets. The front of the HTC Legend smartphone is sleek and nicely designed. On the back of the phone this look continues, only the camera has a black patch with holes around it, which I personally don’t find fitting to the whole. Under the touch screen there are only four keys found. All the way on the bottom there is also an optical joystick. The HTC Legend cell phone lies pleasantly in the hand and is exactly right in terms of format and weight.

HTC Legend phone menu
In the Android operating system we always find diverse start screens, with the menu key underneath. In the HTC Hero we already saw that HTC cell phones give their own flavor to the Android platform. In the HTC Legend, they are successful in fully executing this positively. There are seven start screens that can be completely arranged according to personal preferences, and depending on the theme, there are diverse Widgets placed. You can also simply leaf through the start screens by using the optical joystick. This button on the bottom of the phone detects movement. Of course you can also just slide over the screen. A fun addition is the home key; normally you always go immediately to the first start screen. If you press on it again, however, then you get an overview of all the start screens and you can easily choose which one you need.
