Sony Ericsson navigation

D ue to the Sony Ericsson Vivaz’ GPS-antenna, a very precise position definition is possible. In the menu, under location services, you find programs that work with this. Among others, there is Google Maps, so that you always know where you are and you can easily define your route. Of course this is not true navigation, and that’s why Wisepilot is installed, as this is full spoken navigation software. The full application is actually only available for a 30 day trial, and if you want to keep using it you can activate it via the phone with a credit card: one week for €2.95, three months for €24.95 or one year for €69.95. Wisepilot works pretty well, only it would have been a nice gesture if the license came included.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Stand-by time

The 3.7V 1200mAh Lithium Ion battery type EP500 that comes included can, according to the specifications, deliver a maximum stand-by time of 440 hours and a maximum call time of 13 hours. The stand-by time was better than I expected. With daily use, a fully charged battery can last for three to four days. This is pretty good; although if you want to shoot photos constantly, listen to music a lot and use the internet all day, then the stand-by time is of course diminished. But all in all, the stand-by time of this Sony Ericsson Vivaz cell phone is better than expected.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz microSDHC

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz’ standard memory has only 75MB. After having taken a few photos, the memory was already full. However, the memory can be extended. Our test phone had a memory card included, but the store version has a standard memory card of 8GB included. Nowadays, also for Sony Ericsson, the memory card is of the common microSD/SDHC type, so that the card can also be used for another phone. The flash memory card is in the back of the phone, so that the battery does not have to be removed in order to replace the card.
