LG GW620 review | Digital camera
LG GW620 camera phone
LG GW620 offers a 5MP camera
The LG’s first Android cell phone has a camera with a 5.0 megapixels resolution. The camera is on the back, which is not very nicely designed. It looks a bit boring, and the lens is on the side with a small LED flash above it. The application is started up via the camera's quick touch menu button on the side. Quick is actually not the correct word, as it takes at least five seconds for the camera application to start up, although this is a bit faster via the menu, but it still takes too long. This makes it impossible to capture spontaneous moments.

LG GW620 camera application
When the application is started, almost the whole screen is used as a viewfinder, with only three quick touch buttons on the right side. You can change from photo to video mode, close the application and review the images recorded. What is left are the settings. By pressing the screen, a tab appears for the settings. The flash, the recording mode and the brightness are shown. If you want to change more settings, such as the ISO values, digital effects, resolution or Geo-tagging, you have to enter the menu. Via a wheel you can find all the functions, which looks nice, but it costs a lot of time to leaf through everything. Here we find the face detection and smile-shot. What these actually do not really clear, and it is too slow and not very precise.

Taking pictures with the LG GW620
As we mentioned, starting up takes a while, but taking a photo is not all too fast either. Focusing and capturing isn't too bad, about two seconds. Only the processing takes too much time. A preview is shown, which can also freeze up in the end. The photo seems to have been successful, but afterwards it seems that it was not actually captured. Although in most cases the result is satisfactory, but I have seen better photos. Especially the colors are a bit washed out and while capturing you might touch the buttons by accident, which closes the application.

Record videos with the LG GW620
A feature that is quite innovative recently, is filming with a cell phone. The LG GW620 is also able to shoot a video clip, and in QVGA (320x240 pixels) at that. That is disappointing, as is the end result. The LG GW620 is obviously missing out here, in terms of multimedia (photo and video). This LG Android is obviously lagging behind the competition. They missed out with this one!
