LG GW620 review

T he Android Smartphones’ menu is already known, and again it is found in the LG GW620 handset. The standard Android menu is found by sliding up a button found on the bottom of the touch screen. There are three start screens in which different Widgets can be placed. The Widgets can be placed by touching the screen for a few seconds. With the home button under the screen you can always return to the start screen. The first time that you use this, you will be asked if you want to use Android Home or LG Home. When you chose LG Home you will get a different start screen and a different menu.

The LG menu has the same settings, only the order is different. In the standard Android menu, everything is in alphabetical order, while the LG menu has categories: Communication, Multimedia, Accessories, Google and Downloads. Also the menu button, LG’s usual menu button is on the lower left side of the start screen. This is a pretty handy arrangement. This is also a distinguishing function which makes the phone an LG. It is strange though, that you can choose. This is confusing. It might be better to have the LG menu installed as the standard menu, to allow the user to choose to activate the Android menu via Settings.

Multimedia has its own category in the LG menu. This includes the camera, radio, photo gallery, media player, music player and video editor. The Music option is the standard Android interface. You can choose arts, albums, songs and play lists, so that you can always have your favorite music at hand. The radio is a fun addition, although the headset must be connected in order to be able to listen to the radio. The headset then functions as an antenna. The speaker is fair, but on the top of the phone there is a standard 3.55mm connection, so that any headset can be used.
