Nokia N97 Mini review | Digital Camera
Nokia N97 Mini digital camera
Digital camera application
As mentioned earlier, it turned out that the back of the Nokia N97 is not quite as nice as that of the Nokia N97. This is mainly due to the finishing of the digital camera. The cover is missing on the N97 Mini, and the camera application slightly protrudes from the phone. Nevertheless, the Nokia N97 Mini features an integrated digital camera with a resolution of 5.0 megapixels and a Carl Zeiss lens. The camera application has to be activated using the shortcut on the right side of the Mini Nokia N97 mobile phone, or by selecting the camera application in the menu.

Focusing with the Nokia N97 Mini
It takes a few seconds before you are actually able to take pictures. Once activated, three-quarters of the screen is in use as a viewfinder, while the remaining space is taken up by the icons for the settings. Capturing a picture in itself is carried out fast, although you have to beware that if you press immediately, focus will skip, resulting in blurred images. If you press the shutter button half-way down before taking the actual picture, focus will then be carried out, resulting in a sharp picture. If you use the virtual shutter release button on the touchscreen, the camera will then also focus before taking the picture. Nokia should really undertake some action here, since this is far from convenient, and also in order to prevent an unnecessary amount of blurred pictures.

T he icons along the viewfinder serve for the flash, capturing a picture, deactivating the application, as well as for the settings. If you select 'settings', the screen will fill up with twelve icons that allow the user to adjust any setting. Here we find, among others, the scene mode, ISO settings, contrast and effects. The pictures made by the Nokia N97 Mini are of a decent quality. The colors are fine and the overall picture is neat. If we watch very closely and critically, noise is visible rather quickly, however, it's still not bad for a mobile phone application.
