Nokia N97 Mini review

W ith the latest top hit, the Nokia N97, still in mind and even still on the store shelves, the Nokia N97 Mini complements the range. Not all that long ago, the Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia launched the first mobile phone with touchscreen onto the market; the Nokia 5800. After testing it, the Nokia 5800 left us with a positive feeling. With the recent launch of the Nokia N97, the first touchscreen phone from the multimedia N series became a fact. The N97 boosted sales numbers, and was already a hot internet topic in many places long before its actual introduction. Besides this kind of large all-rounder, a smaller version is now available for the enthusiast. We are curious to see whether the Nokia N97 Mini will also be able to prove itself.

As the name already gives away; the Nokia N97 Mini looks exactly like its big brother, only a tad smaller. The packaging has shrunk to half its size, however, other than that, it is identical. A matte black packaging with the silhouette of the phone printed into the packaging. All in all, a neat appearance, including the shiny Nokia N97 Mini in letters on the sides. Inside the packaging, the phone is found accompanied by a battery charger, a headset, a data cable, a software CD and user manuals.

First impression of the Nokia N97 Mini

The back of the N97 Mini is admittedly somewhat less beautiful than that of the original N97, which is mainly due to the integrated camera. The color on the other hand, is rather nice. When sliding the phone open, we see almost identical keys, only one navigation button on the left side is missing. Instead, the N97 Mini features several arrow keys to the right side. The screen has a fairly simple finishing touch to it. Especially at the top of the phone, where an opening for the speaker is found. Below the screen, the buttons to answer or end a call are found, as well as the menu button.
