HSDPA & WiFi internet connections

HSDPA and Wi-Fi guarantee all internet connections. Wi-Fi networks are found in no-time and making the connection is easy. The internet is very well accessible and works fast. Although you do notice that the screen is not that useful for full web pages, despite its dimensions. You have to keep on scrolling. Also inserting text through the standard keypad is kind of difficult, since we are used to full QWERTY keyboards. Then again, it is possible, and you do have access to the Internet, always and everywhere. Naturally, the internet connection is also important for the PlayNow Plus service.

Wayfinder navigation system

The built-in GPS antenna, which works with A-GPS, can be used together with Google Maps or Wayfinder. Google Maps will let you determine your position and plan a route, however, be aware of the fact that is not a full voice navigation. For those who do require this, the Sony Ericsson W995 can also be used with Wayfinder. This application is standard installed and can be used as trial version. Thanks to this, you can use the W995 as a full navigation system.

Sony Ericsson W995 standby time

The battery which is used by Sony Ericsson in the W995 is a 3.6V 930mAh Lithium Polymer battery, type BST-38. In ideal circumstances, the battery should be able to reach a maximum standby time of 370 hours and a maximum talk-time of 9 hours. In practice, the standby time certainly did not disappoint me. Sometimes, the battery lasted for more than four days without needing a recharge, while the music functionality was being used frequently. In addition to using the music player, frequent calling and making use of the Internet was also carried out.

Sony Ericsson W995 memory

8GB memory card included

The 8.1 Megapixel digital camera and, naturally, the PlayNow Plus service require sufficient memory. The internal memory is only 118MB. This internal memory is far from sufficient to be able to use all of the phone’s functionalities. Luckily, the memory is expandable by a Memory Stick Micro (M2) memory card. This card has to be inserted inside the battery compartment on the side of the phone. Standard, an 8GB memory card is included with 1000 tracks on it for the T-Mobile version of the W995. If you want even more memory, the Sony Ericsson W995 officially supports M2 memory cards up to a maximum of 16GB, although it would not surprise us if the new 32GB M2 cards are also supported.
