Digital camera application

The fact that Nokia has even added 8MP to the name, surely draws attention to the digital camera application, making us quite curious. The digital camera is neatly protected by a cover. Upon opening this cover, the camera application is activated. If the cover is opened, you can also start the Nokia N86 camera by pressing the shortcut briefly. It's a decent cover, resembling a genuine digital camera. However, unfortunately scratches do occur while opening Luckily not on the lens itself; although below and beside it, which is a real pity.

Speed of the Nokia N86 camera

Starting up the camera application is pretty fast, thanks to the easy start by sliding open the protective cap. The screen remains black for some two seconds, after which you can immediately take the first picture. Also focusing is carried out quickly and smoothly. Indeed, you can even speedily take sequential pictures. In practice, this makes the Nokia N86 easy to manage as a digital camera.

Adding a GPS-tag to your pictures

To change the camera settings, check out the menu on the screen. Whilst shooting, you will find a row of icons to adjust settings next to the remaining storage space and the option key. You can organize the icons to your own liking. Here, you can switch between picture and video capture mode, set the shooting mode, activate the flash, change ISO (Auto, Low, Medium and High), adjust white balance and add effects. And lastly, in options you can set items such as resolution, storage method, default name and GPS tag.

Viewing pictures on the computer

The camera application on the Nokia N86 8MP smartphone works pleasantly in practice. The addition of the 8MP camera has really proven itself and it can almost be considered a genuine cameraphone. If we view the pictures on the computer, we are genuinely surprised. During a short holiday in Sicily, the N86 was used as a digital camera, and even the large compositions show an excellent result. Compared to a regular digital camera, we still come across quite some noise, however, the results of the N86 exceed many other mobile phones. The dual LED flash even let us capture nice memories during a night out. All in all, a nice addition to this neat multimedia smart phone.
