T he Nokia N86 smartphone has been available for a while now. The Nokia N86 features an 8 Megapixel sensor and a digital zoom function. The fact that there are only very few camera phones that feature an optical zoom, can be called remarkable. This undoubtedly has to do with the design of a new (internal) zoom lens and all the related hindrances that occur when integrating it into the phone whilst at the same time ensuring it doesn’t become too bulky. When it comes to resolution, the Nokia N86 mobile phone has not yet fully matured. In the (up)-coming year, a new platform (OMAP 4) will become available, with support up to no less than 20 megapixels and 1080p HD video. From that viewpoint, the Nokia N86 really is at the dawn of mobile photography.

At its introduction, the Nokia N86 handset was presented as a camphone that is able to capture both high-quality pictures and videos in all light circumstances. The Nokia N86 phone is said to have been optimized in order to compete with a traditional photo camera. In addition, the advantage of shooting with the Nokia N86 is its Hi-speed connectivity enabling simple data exchange.
