Thanks to the built-in GPS antenna, the HTC Touch Pro 2 can also be used as a navigation system. Only Google Maps is standard installed, however, this is not full navigation software. Then again, the Google Maps application is still able to indicate your position on a map and calculate a route from there, without voice commands. If you are looking for a full navigation solution, it is possible to install this. Examples are TomTom and McGuider. Both feature a version suitable for Windows Mobile. It may take a while before a GPS connection is established, initially there is an estimated position within a large circle. This circle becomes smaller as the position is estimated more accurately.

Windows Mobile software guarantees excellent synchronization. Through Microsoft Exchange as well as through direct communication by Outlook with the computer, everything is possible. Since the phone features Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Mobile, it enables opening and editing of the associated files. For example, a Word document can be received by e-mail, after which adjustments can be made and the file can be re-sent, without a computer required. The Straight Talk option makes the phone suitable for a Conference call; as soon as the phone is placed on the table with the screen facing downward. The bottom of the phone features two built-in microphones and two speakers including noise reduction, and there's a mute button below the camera to disable the microphones. This is a very nice and handy option.

Expandable microSD/SDHC memory
The internal memory of the HTC Touch Pro 2 is very limited. The user only gets 288MB to play with. This is remarkable, while many cell phone manufacturers equip their models with a considerably larger amount of memory. For example, the Apple iPhone with 16GB or 32GB, the Nokia N97 with 32GB, and the Samsung Omnia 2 with 16GB internal memory. Fortunately however, it is possible to expand the memory of the HTC Touch Pro 2 with a microSD/SDHC memory card, so you can still create more memory up to 32GB. Of course, it will involve some additional costs. There is no memory card standard included.

The included 3.7V 1500mAh Lithium Ion battery should be able to reach a maximum standby time of 348 hours and a maximum talk-time of 7 hours, according to the specifications. This is however only achievable under ideal conditions, in daily use you will not get that much out of the battery. However, the specifications are reasonable, and that is noticeable in practice. For this type of smart phones, battery life strongly depends on how the phone is used. For example, if you use the Internet, music and navigation all day long, the battery will without question be depleted in one day. A standby time of 2 to 3 days should be possible with average use and regularly making calls.
