HSDPA and Wi-Fi Internet

T he LG Viewty Smart has a fairly decent Internet browser. The keypad on the touchscreen serves for entering a web address. By tilting the phone, a full QWERTY keyboard becomes available, which is easy to use after a bit of practice. This can also be used for SMS and e-mail. Thanks to HSDPA and Wi-Fi support, all connection options are present. If Wi-Fi is selected, the handset will search for available wireless networks as soon as the browser starts. This comes in very useful if your Viewty Smart came without data bundle; this way, you will not face unexpected expenses if your phone accidentally went online. E-mail is easy to set up; it's generally just a matter of entering your username and password. Furthermore, there is Microsoft Exchange support.

GPS navigation & Google Maps software

The built-in GPS antenna enables determining your position at all times, everywhere and very precisely too. Since the LG Viewty Smart does not allow installing external software, the GPS antenna can only be used in combination with the standard installed Google Maps application. This application does not turn the LG Viewty Smart into a full navigation system, but it does allow checking a location on a map, also with satellite view or instructions on the screen in order to plan a route this way. It does at times take a while before the GPS position is calculated.

The internal memory of the LG Viewty Smart is 1.5 GB. Thanks to this internal memory, you can immediately upload quite a few pictures and a variety of music to the LG smartphone after purchasing. If you are going to use the mobile phone extensively, possibly also as a multimedia player, you can fortunately choose to expand the memory. The LG Viewty Smart supports microSD / SDHC memory cards up to 32GB. This way, you get the most out of your phone and you can store all of your favorite content.
