T he applications of digital photography are countless. Especially combined with the cell phone; quickly uploading a picture to Hyves or FaceBook, creating an online photo album to share your special moments with friends and family, or just to make a print. In the early days, digital pictures were mainly kept on the computer, but in recent years a change has taken place. Digital picture frames, online photo albums and naturally, printing pictures on canvas. For some applications, pictures of a certain resolution are required. The special camera phones do come close where resolution is concerned, but a vast difference still remains between pictures taken by regular digital compact cameras and camera phones. Although it has to be said the picture quality has improved significantly over the past two years. Know that, makes us even more curious about the results of LG's latest camera hit; the LG Viewty Smart GC900 smartphone. The specifications of this new LG smartphone certainly seem promising.

First impression of the LG Viewty Smart

LG generally puts a lot of effort into the packaging; all accessories packed in separate boxes, a magnetic cover and a beautiful finish. However, in the case of the LG Viewty Smart mobile phone, the packaging is simple, rather scanty and not very solid. The colors seem faded and in my opinion, the features of this high-end camera phone do not show to full advantage. Upon opening the box, you will spot the LG Viewty Smart immediately with, below it, a plastic box containing the supplied accessories. This box contains a charger, a headset, a data cable, a software CD and instruction manuals. Even the phone itself has a 'cheap' feel' to it, caused mainly by its weight. The dimensions are fine, only the edge around the screen is somewhat on the large side. Below the heat-sensitive touch screen, only one key is positioned. The back of the phone conceals the fact we're dealing with a cameraphone, since it looks like a genuine digital camera.
