Samsung B2100 test

W hether you’re going to the beach, to the swimming pool or on a mountain biking tour; also in summer time, our mobile phones come with us wherever we go and at any time. That makes the summer quite a risky time for our phone, considering the fact that sand, dust and moisture are often the main causes of damage to our beloved mobile phones. That is why there have always been handset manufacturers that produce mobile phones that can withstand a bump and a drop of water. It's been a while since we saw new introductions within this segment; we tested the extreme Enduro by Sonim, while Samsung has the M110, the B3700 and now the B2100. This certainly is a nice, fairly compact, solid and shockproof mobile phone. With the Samsung B2100 Xplorer, you can be at ease all summer long, and the device can be taken along to work as well, whatever the circumstances.

First impression of the Samsung B2100 phone

The Samsung B2100 handset comes in a simple box, which clearly shows that a solid mobile phone is packed inside. The text 'extreme durability' is written on the packaging and this is also clear from the first glance at the phone itself. The rubberized keys, the rugged design and the clear waterproof back all add to this appearance. It's just unfortunate that the keys, as well as the display, feature a small edge that gathers dust. Furthermore, the screw that clamps the back is extremely tightly attached. No chance to change the SIM card quickly. The Samsung B2100 cell phone offers a great hand-fit, and the design, unlike other rugged mobile phones, is quite appealing. Standard accessories include a charger, a headset and manuals.

Samsung B2100 mobile phone menu

Alongside the navigation buttons, two keys are found in the middle, one of which refers to the menu. Furthermore, the four navigation buttons can also be set as shortcuts, thus allowing you to quickly send an SMS text message, and offering quick access to the Bluetooth menu. The menu of the Samsung B2100 Explorer itself is very well-structured and works both smoothly and quickly. The twelve icons make it easy to find everything. However, it is a bit difficult to see which icon is selected, especially outside in the sun. The icons become only slightly bigger when selected. You can view the text at the top of the screen, but you do naturally also want to see where the cursor is located.
