Samsung Pebble review | Rating & Conclusion
Samsung Pebble test
T he Samsung S2 Pebble finds itself at the same level as the Apple iPod Shuffle and the Creative Zen Stone. A screen lacks on all three MP3 players; they provide the same amount of storage capacity, in short; they belong to the same category. I have also tested the Creative Zen Stone, and I really missed the screen on this MP3 player. As for the Pebble, it's a whole different story. Although this MP3 does not feature a screen, thus not providing you with the knowledge of which song is playing, and you only have a blinking LED to tell you things; the Pebble offers something else. From day one I received many reactions on the chain I was wearing. Especially the feminine part of our population wondered frequently what it was that shone so brightly around my neck. After I was able to convince them that it was an MP3 player, they became really interested as to where it could be purchased and how much it costs. The masculine part commented on the lack of the screen. It is nice to see the variety of the reactions, as it shows the S2 is just as easily considered a fashion accessory as it is a style icon or MP3 player.
In my opinion, the sharp-edged Apple iPod Shuffle and the poor Creative Zen Stone are nothing compared to the Pebble. Whereas the Shuffle lacks the beautiful appearance and the Stone the functionality, the only thing the Pebble lacks is a screen. The music quality is average and the operation needs time to get used to, but other than that, I would still prefer the Pebble above its rivals. The Samsung S2 Pebble has succeeded in convincing me that an MP3 player without screen definitely has potential.
