The Storm’s battery is a huge disappointment. Even at average use, the battery is depleted too quickly. Of course, a large monitor eats up a lot of energy but you would expect the battery to be able to last many hours on a device like this. Certainly if you take into account the weight of the Blackberry and in particular that of the battery. It's a rather heavy device compared to the current mobile phone generation and I thought that would also increase the performance of the battery. However, it doesn’t seem to work that way.

At average use, the battery is depleted within a day. The battery is often empty before you even have a chance to recharge it. This could create an annoying situation, for example when you're on your way to a meeting. Furthermore, I noticed that the Blackberry, and in particular the battery, are very prone to dust. I carried the Storm in my pants pocket and within a few days, mainly the back of the device was covered in dust. The dust covers the speaker thus decreasing the sound quality.

The improved media player is a nice plus for the new Blackberry smartphone. The stereo headset fits nicely in your ears and provides a clear sound transfer. And if the environment allows it, you can also enjoy the music through the speaker. It is as if the sound is coming from more than one point, offering a true stereo sound. It's a pity that it isn't possible to play videos on full screen, not even at a lesser quality. The extra black edge around the 3.3 inch SurePress touchscreen is another disadvantage since it makes a movie display smaller. The video quality is fine. Colors are rendered perfectly as are the light and dark areas. Subtitles are also very readable on this screen.

Internet on the BlackBerry Storm

BlackBerry Storm HSDPA internet

The Blackberry Storm allows access to the mobile Internet anywhere. The Storm supports UMTS/HSDPA which provides reasonable speed. Surfing on the Blackberry is simple. Just click the address bar in the browser, insert the website address by using the QWERTY keyboard, and away you go. Many sites are easy to access and readable. However, to be blunt; the speed is absolutely terrible compared to other full internet UMTS/HSDPA phones. Furthermore, the phone frequently freezes on various websites or even before, in the menu. Another disadvantage is the fact that the phone lacks WiFi connectivity, which means you cannot use a faster Internet connection on 'fixed' work spots.
