View file formats while on the road

To enable viewing all file formats while on the road, the Blackberry software has an application which makes it possible to use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF documents. In addition to displaying the documents, they can also be created or adjusted. This is a great plus - you would usually only find a Microsoft document viewer on mobile phones, in which case you would still need a computer for even the smallest adjustment.

SDHC memory card support

The Blackberry Curve 8900 features a standard internal memory of 256MB. In addition to the internal memory, there is also a card slot for SD/SDHC memory cards. A 1GB memory card is included with the Curve 8900. Furthermore, memory cards up to 16GB are also supported. The memory card was underneath the batteries on older models in the Curve series whereas the card is placed next to the SIM card on the Curve 8900, so it can be changed without having to deactivate the phone.

BlackBerry 8900 Stand-by time

Just like similar phones, the Blackberry Curve 8900 lasts for approximately two days of general use without having to recharge the battery. According to the specifications, the 3.7V 1400mAh Lithium-Ion battery should provide a maximum standby time of 356 hours and a talk-time of 5.5 hours. When frequently using multimedia files and the Internet, the battery should be recharged on a daily basis.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager

The software included in the Blackberry Curve 8900 is the Blackberry Desktop Manager. Everybody is able to make backups with the Blackberry Desktop manager, and to copy multimedia files to and fro the Blackberry, as well as managing applications and synchronizing contacts and the agenda. In addition to these options, you can also import backups from another Blackberry phone. This is very useful for current Curve users who will upgrade to this new model. The software is nice and user-friendly.
