Media player on the Nokia Supernova

The media player is quite nice although due to its limited memory of 4MB, the phone cannot be used as an MP3 player. It can play MP3 ringtones, but that's about all you can do with it. Well, that and recording voice memos. Nevertheless, the radio function allows you to enjoy listening to music on this mobile phone. The headset functions as an antenna, so it needs to be connected. There is an automatic search for available stations. The radio doesn't have to be deactivated when sending text messages or scrolling through the menu.

Playing games on the Nokia 7100

Among the applications in the main menu are some standard games. The Nokia 7100 Supernova offers: Backgammon, City Bloxx and Snake 3. The latter is an old acquaintance on Nokia mobile phones, however; over time it has been upgraded and improved and looks good on the Nokia 7100. Personally, I find Backgammon rather boring, but I like City Bloxx. The object of the game is to create buildings as high as possible by stacking floors. It's great for killing time.

Data transfer with the Nokia Supernova

Since there is no standard software with the Nokia 7100, there is no data cable either and the only way to transfer files from the Nokia 7100 Supernova is to use Bluetooth. Via Bluetooth, you can simply transfer pictures, videos and music files to and fro other mobile phones or computers. You can also place ringtones on your mobile phone in this way or download a picture to your PC and send it to your phone via email.

Nokia mobile phone memory

As I stated earlier, the internal memory is very limited. The standard internal memory is only 4MB. Unfortunately, this memory is not expandable. That means that you can only store about 30 pictures in addition to an MP3 ringtone. The fact that this mobile phone offers an MP3 player and a digital camera is very nice but it should also be possible to store the content. The availability of expandable memory would have made this Nokia 7100 a lot more appealing.

Nokia 7100 Supernova review

Nokia Supernova battery

N okia has included a 3.7V 860mAh Lithium Ion battery, type BL-4S, with the Nokia 7100 Supernova. According to the specifications, this battery should last for a maximum standby time of 360 hours and a talk-time of 3.5 hours. In practice, this works out to several calls over approximately four days. This is more than enough and also quite logical since this Nokia handset does not have any energy-eating functionality. Listening to the radio frequently is the only thing that would strongly effect the standby time.
