Watching DivX movies

A striking fact not yet mentioned above is the ability of the LG Renoir to play Divx, Xvid and MPEG4 movies. Even though this is a feature that is not yet standard integrated in a phone, it certainly proves very handy. Providing you have enough memory, you can download movies from your computer to the Renoir and watch it whilst travelling by train. The quality is decent, dark and light are well visible. Subtitles are readable for six out of ten people, mainly youngsters. Sharpness is fine, although everything also depends on the quality of the movie. In addition to watching movies, you can also play MP3 files and listen to the songs through the included stereo headset or through the speaker.

Assistant GPS feature

The LG Renoir offers a new type of GPS called aGPS. If you have unlimited Internet access, this function will offer you assistant GPS in addition to the average GPS functions. It means you have a more precise and faster processing of GPS data through the GSM mast of your telecom provider. Unfortunately, you cannot navigate on the phone like a standalone GPS car module, although it is possible to create a route in Google Maps and follow this precisely as if it were a digital city map.

LG Renoir battery

T he maximum standby time of het 1000mAh battery of the LG KC910 is 320 hours. During testing, the battery lasted a long time. Generally, energy consuming functions such as GPS, WiFi and photographing cause the battery to run out very fast. This is also the case with the LG Renoir, although it is not too annoying. You can use the phone for at least 3 days without having to recharge it, based on general use. And if the phone is suddenly out of energy, you can recharge the battery, for example by using the data cable at home or at work with the battery charger. This offers the possibility to charge the phone in various places.

8GB microSD card included

The standard internal memory of the LG Renoir is 100MB. A nice gesture by LG is the standard included 8GB microSD card. It means storing a lot of music, films, pictures and videos on the memory card. A surplus value of an external card is the fact it is extremely easy to read the card through a card reader. This is fast, simple and most importantly; safe.

LG Renoir software

LG KC910 software CD

A software CD is also found in the box. It's a small software CD which easily fits in the package but cannot be used on many MAC computers. This disc does not fit in a CD slot. Apart from its size, the software is very comprehensive. You can put music and films on your cell phone and upload captured videos and pictures to your computer in case you want to edit these. Transferring files is quite fast. Even faster would be nicer however; the speed is not annoyingly slow.
