LG Renoir digital photo and video camera

The LG Renoir KC910 features an 8.0 Megapixel digital photo/video camera. The camera is equipped with a Schneider-Kreuznach lens. This lens manufacturer produces lenses for Kodak, among other companies. It is a well-known brand within the camera industry. The lens offers auto focus, which is quite important for the image quality. The chance of a sharp picture increases thanks to the AF (Auto Focus). Additionally, the Renoir offers another way of focusing. You can focus on a specific part in the composition, simply by touching the object on the touchscreen. The gridlines are available to offer more comfort during shooting. This is ideal to get a horizon straight when shooting landscapes. The Xenon Flash allows for taking pictures in the dark, although the quality of the flash isn't so good that it will provide you with high quality pictures in the dark. However; if you stay within the effective range of the flash, you can make nice snapshots.

LG Renoir camera settings

Like for other camera phones, the light circumstances are important for the quality of the pictures of this phone, too. If you're outdoors taking pictures on a slightly clouded day, the sharpness/depth of color spectrum and dynamic range are considerably better than, for example, a picture taken indoors. Pictures taken outdoors feature a warmer and more realistic image. This goes for most of today's phones. One thing that is outstanding about the LG Renoir is the focus on macro level. Objects captured from up-close are reproduced with a surprising sharpness in the picture. As for the noise level of this digital camera, I am very pleased. Compared to a simple 2.0 Megapixel digital photo camera, there is hardly any difference in the produced pictures. In ideal light circumstances, the difference is negligible.

LG Renoir photo mode

A nice extra is the photo mode. This mode offers a variety of capture types. You can shoot the average picture of course, but also smile, enhanced, art or panning pictures. If you set the camera to smile, it will wait until somebody smiles, also called 'smile detection'. There is also the possibility of taking more than one picture whilst pressing the shutter release once, which appears to be a short film. You don't have to settle for this option, since the LG Renoir also offers to capture videos. In video mode, there are three different capture modes; slow, normal and fast. You can record with a speed from 5 up to 120 frames per second. A nice feature, especially for the video camera, is the possibility to zoom in. Although it is a digital zoom, it is still nice to have this option. The lens hood protects the lens whilst you carry the Renoir in your bag or trouser pocket. This keeps the lens clean which ensures you are always able to capturing good pictures and videos. All in all, this camera is very suitable for fast and easy shooting.
