LG touchscreen handset

T he phone has a neat and up-to-date appearance. The 3.0 inch touchscreen monitor catches the eye immediately. It's a bright monitor with 256,000 colors and a pixel ratio of 240x400 offering a lot of information on the start screen: battery status, time, network range and WiFi connection if required. The LG Renoir features two cameras. One on the back of the cell phone, to take pictures and capture videos, and one for video calling on the front of the phone.

In addition to the touchscreen, the LG Renoir also offers seven operation keys. These keys operate the basic functions of the phone: calling/answering, ending/refusing a call, capturing pictures/videos, key lock, adjusting volume and a key to access the shortcut menu. A nice feature of the touchscreen monitor is the fact that the image rotates when rotating the device. This accelerator function is especially handy when watching movies, Internet pages and sending SMS text messages. By rotation of the screen, you can send text messages ultrafast, while the QWERTY keyboard offers a clear view on the text. As mentioned earlier, you can operate the screen with the included stylus pen or with your fingers. You can work more precisely with the pen, however, after working with the handset for some days, continuously having to grab the pen did prove somewhat annoying. It's much quicker to use your fingers.

LG Renoir KC910 menu structure

The menu structure of the LG Renoir has been transformed. It is now divided into four different categories. All similar functions and/or applications are visible in a simple overview. The four categories are: Communications; which includes the contacts, messages and last calls. Second category is Entertainment, containing the digital camera, FM radio, music player and games. The third submenu 'Help programs' contains all the supporting applications on the LG KC910 like the alarm, web browser and organizer. In the fourth and last category, you can adjust your Settings: telephone settings, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and profiles are all found in this submenu.

I n addition to the general menu, the LG Renoir also offers a quick menu. Inside this quick menu, you can display functions and applications at your own preference. Frequently used functions can be simply placed in an overview. On top of that, you can create shortcuts in the standby menu to have quick access to main functions such as inbox, picture gallery and contacts.
