Samsung Omnia camera phone
The Samsung Omnia features a 5.0 Megapixel digital camera with auto focus. The camera button on the right side serves to start the camera application. Starting up takes a while, however, it's not too bad compared to other Windows Mobile phones. The entire screen functions as viewfinder in landscape mode, which makes it ever so easy to see how the picture will turn out. The actual capturing of a picture takes much too long, as we already knew. Snapshots are therefore impossible to make. Focussing takes around two seconds and if you slightly move right at the end of focussing, the picture will have failed. Whilst capturing a picture, you should keep concentrating and keep the phone still right until the very end, which will offer a reasonable result. Still many pictures turn out blurred; maybe it's a matter of getting used to. Furthermore, the camera is unable to deal with bright light circumstances resulting in pictures with spots on them. Bright colors are also hard to capture. The color changes slightly right after focusing. I tried to use a different ISO value and contrast in the Setting menu; unfortunately it did not help.

A ll thinkable settings can be adjusted on the Omnia phone. You can select various capture modes, select effects, adjust ISO sensitivities, change the resolution, deactivate the flash and so on. Whilst capturing a picture, some 10 icons appear on the screen in order to change the settings via the touchscreen. You have to really concentrate on doing so too, since there are so many settings, it has become rather unclear. The flash and the capture mode, macro and auto for example, are placed separately, however, the remaining settings require you to enter the menu again via the icons.

Samsung Omnia Internet function
There are sufficient choices to browse the Internet on the Samsung i900. You can connect with WiFi, the phone also supports HSDPA and it offers a choice between Opera and Internet Explorer as web browser. Both web browsers are fine. Full screen reproduction is available and tapping on the screen twice lets you zoom in. Browsing through Internet pages and searching the menu consisting of long lists is not all that smooth. However, everything I am used to doing on a mobile phone as far as Internet is concerned, is available on the Samsung Omnia, such as read the news, keep up with emails and search for information.

Editing Microsoft Office Mobile files
Since the operating system of the Omnia is Windows Mobile, Microsoft Office files can be opened, edited or created without a problem. A mobile version of Office is standard installed. The large screen offers a nice view as for PowerPoint presentations and Excel files are quite manageable as well. Scrolling through large sized texts in Word is difficult with the use of your finger. You will accidentally select parts of the text or scroll too far, making you lose track of where you were reading. In this case, it is better to use the stylus pen to click on the arrows of the scroll bar. It will offer easy access to all your files whilst travelling.
