Playing videos on the Sansa Fuze
The 1.9 inch screen of the Sansa Fuze plays videos very clearly. Even though the screen is on the small side, watching a video is still very pleasant on the Fuze MP3. The SanDisk Sansa Fuze supports the MPEG5 format, although it remains unclear in what compression. If you want to convert a movie to the Sansa format, I'd advise you to use the Sansa Media Converter in order to ensure you are able to play the movie on the Fuze. On top of that, you will obtain the best video quality.

SanDisk Sansa Media Converter
The Sansa Media Converter, however, is not included and has to be downloaded through 'Downloads' on the SanDisk Website. You can select to register before downloading at which a newsletter will be sent to you every so often, or you can choose to download the file without registration. During playing, you can use the 'clearness' functionality to adjust the clearness which might come in handy in a dark environment or when the screen is reflecting too much. The Fuze will allow for 5 hours of watching videos without needing a recharge.

SanDisk Sansa Fuze photo viewer mode
The picture mode of the Sansa Fuze is almost equal to the video mode when it comes to reproduction of the screen. Pictures are rendered clearly and although the screen is fairly small as mentioned before, it is still a joy to watch pictures on the Fuze. Moreover, it is a nice way of sharing your pictures with others and it certainly is a nice addition on the media player. It also offers adjusting the screen's brightness and starting a slideshow, the latter with or without music. Transferring pictures is enabled by the Windows Media Player or any other synchronization program. The Fuze supports the JPEG format only.

Extra functions on the SanDisk Fuze
The SanDisk Sansa Fuze offers some nice additional functions such as radio and voice recording. The radio of the Fuze surprised me by its excellent reception and I used the radio option frequently whilst testing. The radio offers 40 selectable radio stations and you can of course search for your favorite radio frequency. The voice recording function does not only let you record, store and afterwards listen to voice or sound fragments, it also allows for radio recordings. The built-in microphone works fine as you would expect from SanDisk. It's fine for short term recordings or short voice memos. The radio recordings are of good quality.
