Windows Mobile device software

The included software, called Windows Mobile device centre, has been developed specifically for the Sony Ericsson X1 which is very pleasant, since one works with pictures of the actual phone and everything is more specific. After installation you can opt for setting or connecting without setting. Selecting the second option will make a connection with your phone without synchronizing with Outlook etc. This makes it easy to manage your files in a quick way. The software works excellently and proves practical. I have never before copied so many pictures with included software to my computer. The structure is straightforward and you can simply install updates, scroll through your files or change settings.

Expandable microSDHC memory

The internal memory of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 only contains 400MB. The memory can be expanded by means of a microSD/SDHC memory card. This is quite striking; before, Sony Ericsson always used its own Memory Stick (M2). Support of microSD offers a better compatibility whilst most other mobile phones are also using this type of memory slot. The Xperia supports memory cards up to 32GB. The memory card can be inserted and removed without having to turn off the mobile phone, since it is found on the side and not underneath the battery. Removing the memory card is not always easy, due to the upright edge where the card is placed.

Sony Ericsson X1 battery

T he 3.6V 1500 Lithium Polymer battery, included with the Sony Ericsson X1, is able to offer a maximum standby time of 833 hours and a talk-time of 10 hours according to the specifications. During testing, this came down to two days of use with a couple of calls a day, Internet surfing and listening to music. The standby time is reasonable. For those who travel a lot and will use the phone as navigation system, a second battery or car charger might come in handy.
