The left side of the device offers the on/off button and a LED (also green and serving for the same function as the green LED on the right side of the media player). Last but not least, an external speaker is found on the top side. The Archos 405 displays large and bright icons in the main menu, which makes it quite well-structured. You have several choices; Music, Video, Picture, Files, VideoCorder and Voice recording. A submenu is also available with settings for the aforementioned options, and lets you adjust the main menu of the Archos 405 to your own preferences by selecting a different background or a different colour theme. All the pictures you have stored on your device are available as background. The operation of the menu is carried out by the buttons on the right side of the media player.
