Small Asus Eee PC very popular
The delivery of the new computers cannot yet meet the demand. 'We are still delivering from a limited stock, but we are catching up. Every month the delivered amount is raised.' according to Radojicic. 'I wanted to organize a launch event, however, the demand was already that large, I postponed it for a while. To create even more demand at this moment would not be wise.' Asus expect to sell between five and seven million of these handy laptops worldwide this year. Other companies are developing a similar computer. Apple and HP have been mentioned as companies working on it. In the United States and the United Kingdom, new developments have been manufactured such as the Classmate PC, the One of Elonex, the Everx Cloud book and the Wind PC of MSI. However, none of these companies brings out a budget laptop of the level Asus do right now. This explains Radojicic's claim that Eee PC will become a brand name, like iPod is for Apple.
Asus Eee Series innovations
Eee keyboard and Eee monitor to come
Asus do not remain idle. The company is building a new product facility in China. Eee PCs are being built there in different colours that are expected in the market in July. And some new concepts are being developed too, like an Eee Keyboard. A computer in the form of a keyboard that you can connect to every monitor or PC. This will also become a very affordable product according to Asus. And they take things even further. An Eee Monitor is also in the pipeline, a computer in the form of a monitor. Didn't Apple already offer this with their iMac? Asus is certain to score in this segment too, as far as price is concerned. These are all products that will be put in the market at the beginning of next year.
Asus Eee PC ; Solid, portable and user friendly
The Asus Eee PC in practise
We have used the Eee PC to get this article on paper. And guess what? The device does exactly what it promised to do. If you are used to the small keyboard, typing is excellent. The Open Software acts like Word. If you compare the Eee PC to a PDA, then this device is superb. It is light, solid, portable and the keyboard and monitor are so much better than a PDA will ever offer. Operation of the Eee does not require a full study. After start-up, which takes less than 30 seconds, a screen appears with tab pages and you can select from: Internet, work, study, play, settings and favourites. Below every tab page, a large icon is found which you only have to click on to get the application started. The screen is on the small side for the Internet pages though; you have to scroll a lot on some pages. Nevertheless, television and YouTube look fantastic on the screen. Also Hyves looks great on the Firefox Browser. You just do not want to compare it to a desktop computer or a 17 inch notebook. Four hours of typing on the Eee PC with WiFi deactivated is no problem. The wireless internet activated, the life span lessens of course. Something that also works greatly on the Eee PC is viewing pictures. It is comparable to a digital photo frame. Something that did not work, unfortunately, was playing MPEG-4 files. The Linux player could not take it. And I don't go as far as searching for different software that can undoubtedly be installed on the Eee. It is a device that does what it has to do. What else do you need? Games? Sudoku is available and I don't see anyone use this device for other games. This device is a perfect additional computer for scholars, students, travellers and reporters!
