Menu structure of the Apple iPhone

Upon activating the Apple iPhone, you will find yourself directly inside the menu. The menu consists of thirteen icons. Besides the standard function available in most mobile phones (such as settings, calculator, agenda etc.) you will find iTunes-store, information about weather & stocks and Google Maps in the iPhone's menu. iTunes-store allows you to purchase music files and lets you listen to a preview of a song. If you don't use the phone for a while, it locks, yet it can be de-locked by moving a bar on the screen from left to right. The menu of the iPhone is extremely straightforward. The text is clearly readable and graphically it is well-structured. It does take time to get used to because of its extensive options, but once you're familiar with it, you will no longer want anything else.

Photographing with the Apple iPhone

The digital camera is a bit disappointing as far as specifications are concerned in comparison to other mobile phones in this segment. It's a 2.0 Megapixel digital camera without auto focus. A zoom is lacking altogether, there is no digital or optical zoom available and it is not possible to alter specific settings. The pictures look good on the screen. During capturing, the large monitor is perfect to reproduce the object you're about to capture. It is when you view the pictures on a computer screen that it's somewhat of a disappointment. The pictures are less sharp than what you'd expect from seeing them on the phone's monitor. The main cause is the lack of the auto focus and the inability to change settings. Taking a good picture is therefore a matter of luck and not of wisdom. As long as you're at a correct distance and in the right light, you can make reasonable pictures. However, the digital camera inside the iPhone should be considered as inessential.

Shooting photos with the iPhone

When you want to capture a picture, you have to click on the small camera logo at the bottom of the screen. The picture is made without any delay which lets you capture the moments immediately. That is the only advantage of the auto focus lacking, since it means there is no focus lag. Even sequential shooting is possible; the picture disappears after capturing it, after which you can instantly shoot the next one. It's a pity picture-taking is only enabled through that one button on the touchscreen. It may prove annoying if you want to take a picture with yourself in it.

Viewing images on the iPhone

To view the pictures, whether you made them yourself with the iPhone or uploaded through iTunes, the device is perfect. When you turn the phone, the picture will automatically turn too and zooming in is carried out by placing two fingers on the screen at the same time and moving them away from each other. To scroll through different pictures, you just go to the other side with your finger which makes the next picture appear. A very handy and original technology.
