At first glance, this Packard Bell MP3 player seems to lack a monitor. But when you activate the AudioKey Max player, to the left of the round navigation button a clear OLED monitor appears. This is the so-called Black Magic Screen of Packard Bell. A beautiful technology; the quality is similar to other screens whilst it also adds to the design. A pity the piano lacquer of the device is fingerprint-prone.

Thanks to the limited amount of buttons, the MP3 player is really easy to use. The navigation is found in a logical spot and is easy to operate. In order to turn the MP3 player on and off, you press the button at the front for two to five seconds. The same button lets you arrange the volume, fast forward and switch between songs. The hold button comes in handy when you carry the MP3 player around in your trouser pocket and want to prevent pressing a button accidentally.

The Menu button, found at the top side next to the hold button, offers access to the following menu options: Settings, Music, Navigate, Radio, Speech and Record. Besides digital reproduction, every menu and menu item has a clear icon displayed. The menu is user-friendly and has a logical structure. Scrolling through the menu and confirming a selection is carried out through the navigation buttons on the front. To escape from the menu, the menu button has to be used.

It's incredible how many settings can be changed on such a small MP3 player. As far as music is concerned, you can set the equalizer and you can put a song on repeat. The OLED monitor can also be adjusted for contrast, backlight, screen security and energy saving. In addition, you can decide here whether you make a voice recording or record from the radio. Furthermore, general settings such as language and default settings can be changed here.
