Samsung G810 test photos

R ecently Samsung Netherlands introduced their latest mobile navigator. It is already quite interesting to walk around with this kind of mobile navigation system in your pocket, though it becomes even more interesting when it's combined with mobile photography. Although the new Samsung G810 phone is not considered to be the successor to the Samsung G800, we do find its 5 Megapixel image sensor combined with a 3x optical zoom. This combination is similar to the features of last year’s standard compact camera as far as specifications on paper are concerned. How well mobile photography with the Samsung SGH-G810 does in practice, we will show through the following sample pictures.

Mobile photography with the Samsung G810

A lot has been said and written about a mobile phone being a direct threat to the photo market. In my opinion this may become partly true, nevertheless; mobile photography will mainly contribute to the current market situation and add a surplus value. Those who aim solely at photography, will go through the trouble of purchasing a proper device; compact or DSLR, whilst those who enjoy taking snapshots every now and again and sharing them with others, will probably go for a cameraphone such as the Samsung G810.

Image quality of digital cameras

The current mobile platform for mobile phones is pushing the limits for speed, among other things. Raising the resolution increases the file size, which is a burden on the current platform when it comes to managing information flows of such a substantial size. To relieve some of the burden, it's possible to compress the JPEG format considerably, however, this will not add to the image quality. Additionally, take into account the limited dynamic range the average image sensor of a mobile phone delivers, as well as the quality of the pixel, and you might well be able to imagine that a manufacturer continuously has to develop and improve these features.
