T he operation of the Samsung SGH-G810 Navi is quite straightforward, partly thanks to Samsung's choice for the Symbian Series 60 operating software. For the Dutch market, this device is equipped with the Route 66 Mobile 8 navigation software including detailed maps of the whole of Western Europe. Mobile navigation is strongly on the rise, and it will be interesting to watch the reactions of renowned manufacturers such as TomTom.

Although camera manufacturers do not yet have full control over the camera technique, we are aware of certain positive developments during the camera phone evolution. Since numbers are equally important in the telecommunication, there is no doubt that the cameraphone, too, will be victimized because of the Megapixel race that seems of huge importance to marketing departments. The camera manufacturer now has the chance to firstly deal with the image quality, not unimportant I'd say, instead of being tempted to increase the image resolution. The great advantage of mobile photography is of course the ease of capturing your favourite moment at any time, and most importantly, the possibility of sharing it with someone immediately. Five Megapixels of resolution is more than sufficient for a cameraphone and it will offer a great photographic result providing dynamic range and quality and sensitivity of the pixel are under control.

Right now, at this moment, I have a test sample of the Samsung G810 Navi laying on my heap of products still to review. In the near future Samsung's latest mobile phone will be put through the test and will be evaluated in an extensive review. Mobile photography gradually becomes more interesting for the photographer. In my opinion, it will not replace the current compact camera market, but it will partially overlap and even add to it. Photography is strongly developed and for those who are dedicating themselves to photography, are likely to purchase a proper developed device for it. The snapshots, the sharing on the spot or mobile blogging are certainly reserved for the cameraphone. The various products will complement each other and will enrich photography as a whole.
