Transcend T.Sonic Battery
The Sonic 840 works on a rechargeable Li-ion battery that plays 30 hours of music on one full battery load. When you watch a lot of videos the battery-life decreases considerably to some five hours. Recharging the battery only takes approximately four hours. The Transcend T-Sonic 840 supports the following music formats; MP3, WMA and WMA-DRM10.

Transcend T.Sonic Software
The video format supported by this multimedia player is MTV and a converting program is available through the software CD. The included software is not the easiest one to use; it will take you some time to find out how it all works. The photo formats supported are: JPEG and BMP. And last but not least, the Sonic 840 supports IMA ADPCM (WAV) voice recording formats.
Transcend T.Sonic Videos
Transcend MP4 - Video quality
The 1.8 inch super colour LCD monitor is of high quality and scratchproof. When a video starts playing the TSonic 840 automatically switches to full screen. You have to hold the player somewhat tilted to watch the videos. Even though the video reproduction is of good quality, certainly for a monitor of 1.8 inch, it really is too small to watch a full video. Touching the navigation button makes a bar appear down at the bottom of the screen that tells you how long the video has been playing and it shows the time digitally.

Transcend MP3 - Music quality
The included earplugs are light as far as their weight is concerned. They produce a nice and clear sound in combination with the Transcend Sonic 840. They also stay perfectly in your ear. When playing music an equalizer is shown with above it the name of the artist and the title of the song playing. And at the bottom it tells you how long the song has been playing and the time and date that appear in nearly every menu. It strikes me, when adjusting the volume, that you can turn it up very loud.

USB 2.0 connection
It takes quite some time to put files on the T.Sonic 840 through the USB 2.0 connection. At least 13 minutes I needed to transfer 1GB of music, pictures and videos. The reproduction quality of pictures is reasonable but if you don't decrease the format of a large format picture first, it can even take more than 20 seconds before the picture is fully rendered. That surely takes away all the fun! Pictures of a smaller format are quicker, but loading is still a problem, it simply takes too long!
Transcend T.Sonic 840 Voice recording
Transcend multimedia player
Keeping the voice recording button pressed down will get you to the voice recording menu at all times. Voice recording happens through the built-in microphone, consisting of three small pinholes, on the top side of the Transcend TSonic 840 multimedia player. The recorded voices have quite a bit of noise to them, but you can still hear what they say. It is a nice addition but I am not quite sure if many people will use this option.
