Samsung i620 - Digital camera
Samsung HSDPA Camera phone
Photo shooting is possible with the 2 Megapixel fixed focus digital camera. The digital camera is positioned on the back of the cell phone and can only be used when the phone is open. Remarkably Samsung chose not to equip the i620 with a flash. Unfortunately, lacking a flash limits the photographic possibilities considerably and shooting a picture in bad light situations is nearly impossible. To prevent blur by movements the self-timer can be used. But putting the cell phone down on a surface gives you less freedom to move and shoot snapshots.
Samsung i620 - Shutter lag
Samsung SGH i620 Camera resolution
When the release button is pushed down completely the picture will be taken. It will take approximately two seconds before the picture appears on the screen. If you are capturing moving objects you will notice that the subject is positioned on a different spot after pushing the release button than where you intended to capture it. This is caused by the interval of release. Storage of the picture takes quite a while preventing you from taking a few pictures sequentially. If you do wish to shoot pictures in sequence you have to use the Multi-mode. The latter has one disadvantage though; the resolution is decreased so your picture will be made with only 240x320 pixels.
Samsung i620 - Image quality
Samsung i620 Photo quality
The image quality of the Samsung i620 is fine, providing you take pictures in well lit situations. The colours are bright and details are recognizable. In badly lit circumstances the pictures show a severe amount of noise. These high noise values influence the photo quality so much that it is no longer worth printing them. Also the auto white balance is slightly inadequate. In situations with mainly artificial light the pictures turn out considerably yellow or purple. In order to obtain a better colour reproduction it is wise to manually adjust the white balance.
Samsung i620 - Camera settings
Samsung i620 Slider phone configuration
A number of mobile phones aim completely at photography like the Samsung G600 and the Nokia N95. These models offer a lot of camera setting possibilities. The SGH-i620 does not belong to this section of cell phones but still offers an abundance of settings. The Samsung SGH-i620 lets you adjust settings such as white balance, file size and photo quality. In addition; functions like Multi-shot mode and self-timer can be selected. Even the photographer who enjoys playing with black/white or sepia photography is looked after. He can adjust these settings in the 'effects' in the menu. Besides that some fifteen cheerful frames can be selected to brighten up your picture.
