HTC Touch - Software and File transfer

The HTC Touch is standard delivered with Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 Software. This software offers the possibility of connecting your phone through USB or Bluetooth with a computer. Once connected it offers the possibility of synchronizing your handset with the computer in order to get your email settings on your handset. When the cell phone is connected through ActiveSync it is a piece of cake to manage files like photos, music, ring tones and documents. The connection of my notebook through USB was reasonably fast; transferring 26MB took around 55 seconds. Through Bluetooth it was somewhat slower; the same amount was copied onto my notebook in 80 seconds.

HTC Touch mobile phone - Menu

The HTC Touch's menu is clear and neat, just as we are used to from Windows Mobile 6 based phones. When you are used to working with Windows on a computer you will recognize many functions on the HTC Touch. The main functions are accessible through Start, top left in the corner. The start menu lets you select sections, and in some cases selecting will lead you to the next menu. The clear description of the sections also accompanied by an icon will make you effortlessly find your way in the menu. The background of the menu can be adjusted. There are various themes available. Also a home-made picture can be used as background which will give your HTC a more personal appearance.

HTC Touch MP3 Player

HTC Touch MP3 Player

HTC Touch smartphone - MP3 Player

The HTC Touch offers an extensive multimedia player. Not only listening to music belongs to the possibilities but watching a movie while on the road is possible too. The movies are played through Windows media player mobile which works exactly the same as the Windows media player on the computer. The MP3 player can be found in the TouchFLO menu. Operation of the MP3 player is extremely easy. The songs can be sorted on the memory card beforehand in order to find them quickly and easily on the mobile phone. The sound quality of the delivered headset is fine. However; its fit is not ideal, the separate ear speakers did not stay nicely in my ears.

HTC Touch Battery

HTC Touch Battery

HTC Touch smartphone - Battery

The HTC Touch uses a 3.7V 1100mAh Lithium Ion battery for its energy. According to HTC specifications, the battery offers 200 hours of standby time and a talk-time of five hours. Intensive use of the touch screen reduces the battery life drastically and makes you having to recharge the battery after a couple of hours. This is a large disadvantage when you use your mobile phone to send many emails or SMS messages because writing the message happens through the touch screen. Frequent use of the MP3 player needs recharging the battery after approximately eight hours.

HTC Touch - Monitor

T he monitor of the HTC Touch is indeed a touch screen monitor of a large size, but the quality sometimes fails a bit. However; the average user will not experience any problems with it. If you want to capture pictures from subjects with large contrast differences, the quality can be checked well on the monitor. You will notice though that the monitor has difficulties reproducing dark sections of a picture rich in contrast. When the photos are transferred to a computer, colour rendering is correct.
