Samsung SGH-U600 - Menu

You can access the menu by pressing the touch sensitive key on the bottom left of the Samsung U600s’ screen. The menu is innovative and easy to use; you will find the most important functions quickly. You can choose between two possibilities to display the menu, as a list or as a grid. I find the text which describes the different parts of the menu too big, which makes the menu display difficult to oversee. Once you are used to the grid display of the Samsung SGH-U600 you can quickly navigate through the menu, and the setting of each function can be found quickly.

Samsung U600 - MP3 Player

The Samsung U600 has an elaborate MP3 player. ICE power technology by Bang&Olufsen or integrated in the Samsung U600. According to Samsung this technology allows for high quality sound, and I would definitely call the sound quality very good. The MP3 player is easy to use. You can add your music files to folders in various ways and the tracks can sorted in various ways, which makes finding them again later much easier. The sound quality and the headphones which are included are very good. The headphones can also serve as an antenna for the Samsung U600’s radio function. A disadvantage is that you can only use headphones with a special Samsung connection, so that your headphone options remain limited.

Samsung U600 - Battery

The Samsung SGH-U600’s battery is not het best in its class. According to Samsung the battery should be good for 270 hours of standby time and 4 hours of talk time. I think that these values are a bit ambitious, as I was not able to stretch it further than 220 hours of standby time and about 3 hours of talk time. For those that are on the go a lot and use a lot of different telephone functions, are recommended to carry an extra battery and charger. If the MP3 is used for a while, the screen and the touch sensitive keys shut off, so that the use time is increased so that you can enjoy your music for longer.

Samsung U600 - Monitor

Samsung SGH U600 - Monitor

The Samsung SGH-U600 has a 2.22 inch QVGA TFT LCD monitor, with a resolution of 240x320 pixels and 262,144 colours. The Samsung U600’s monitor has a reflective coating which contributes to its flashy design. The monitor is very good, the colours are shown clearly and everything can be seen easily, but this changes if you want to use the Samsung SGH-U600 outside in direct sunlight. If the sun shines directly onto the monitor, the display of the monitor is so bad that you have to seek shade or somehow create shadow.
