Samsung U600 - Camera
Samsung SGH-U600 - Camera
Despite its minimalistic format, the Samsung U600 has a 3.2 Megapixel autofocus digital camera with flash. The Samsung U600’s digital camera lens is hidden behind the back, and when the camera is closed shut the Samsung U600 cannot be used. When the phone is slid open, the camera can be activated via the menu or via the camera key on the side of the phone. When you push the shutter release button halfway, the digital camera will begin to focus, and when the shutter release is pushed all the way, the photo is taken.
Samsung U600 - Delay
Samsung SGH-U600 - Delay
The Samsung U600 camera’s shutter delay is not unexpected. It is almost impossible to quickly take a photo of something that suddenly goes by, and this is not only caused by the shutter delay, but also the start-up, and the focusing of the autofocus take quite a bit of time. Despite the flash the Samsung U600’s camera has trouble with poor lighting conditions, but taking a photo outside in clear, sunny conditions is not a problem. Then even moving subjects are fairly easy to capture, despite all these obstacles.
Samsung U600 - Image Quality
Samsung SGH U600 - Image Quality
The 3.2 Megapixel digital camera delivers great, clear photos under many circumstances. Nevertheless, there is still enough left to wish for. In poor lighting conditions you have the possibility to turn on the flash and choose a higher ISO rate up to ISO 400. This increases the shutter speed so that there is less chance of unclear photos. Increasing the ISO rate does create more noise in photos taken in poor lighting conditions. The white balance function works well, if a photo shows a blue or yellow hue the white balance can be adjusted and the photos will have good colours.

Samsung SGH U600 - Settings
There are different settings possible for the Samsung U600 camera, next to the ISO rate and white balance; you can opt for the self-timer, light metering, macro mode and multi-shot mode. The multi-shot mode is very handy if you want to photograph moving subjects. Not all problems are solved by the multi-shot mode, though, because of the shutter delay, but the multi-shot mode does ensure that you will not miss the subject if you press the shutter release in time.
Samsung U600 - microSD
Y ou can extend the Samsung SGH-U600’s memory with a microSD memory card. You can choose from different capacities and speeds. We chose the SanDisk 2GB memory card because of the stability and speed SanDisk memory cards deliver. You could also opt for the 2GB Memory Kit. Then you do not only have a microSD but also a miniSD and an SD card. There are several possibilities in transferring files from the microSD memory card to a computer. A good choice is the SanDisk Mobile mate SD + 5 in 1 card reader, which is very small and therefore easy to take along.
