The HTC P4350 has a 2 Megapixel inbuilt digital camera. When the digital camera is activated you can hold the HTC P4350 in your hand as you would do with a normal camera. It's a real pity the HTC P4350 hasn't got an inbuilt flash or LED like all the other HTC models I have tested. Therefore photographing under dim light circumstances is rather difficult. The camera is not equipped with auto focus but has a fixed focus point. So the camera won't let you focus on a certain point which makes the pictures turn out a bit unclear and macro images are not possible at all. It would be a great addition if a flash and auto focus were added to the digital camera of the HTC P4350.

One difficulty that almost all digital cameras in a mobile phone suffer from is the shutter release lag. When pressing the shutter button on the camera it takes a while before the actual photo is taken. Often the subject you are trying to catch has moved again which makes you capture something else. Dim light conditions, for example indoor pictures or pictures taken in twilight, show blur from moving the HTC P4350 slightly. Additionally the limited light increases the ISO sensitivity to enhance shutter speed, which causes an increase of digital noise in the photos.

The HTC P4350 offers several setting possibilities for its built-in camera. Some of these functions are directly accessible through the main screen, like white balance, clarity, image quality and exposure metering. Advanced settings can be selected through the menu. The menu lets you select the self-timer and choose from off, two and ten seconds. Furthermore you can set the quality to low, normal, fine and super fine. And you can adjust white balance via the menu and some photographic effects. For example you can take pictures in Black&White, sepia and negative. The white balance setting is working really well; when choosing the correct setting the colours on the pictures turn out very realistic.

When you have made some nice pictures that are not completely satisfying, you can use the different editing possibilities. You can cut pictures, turn and auto correct them. When you have selected the wrong white balance, you can correct the colour cast easily with the automatic correction function. Photos can be sent through MMS, email, infrared, USB cable and Bluetooth. Transferring of 45.6MB through USB took almost 3 minutes in my case. If you want to show your pictures to your friends, you can use the slideshow function.

microSD memory card

T he memory capacity of the HTC P4350 can be enhanced with a microSD memory card. It seems that the microSD card is selected more often to enhance the memory of a mobile phone, with the exception of some. A number of brands deviate and select the miniSD memory card or the Memory Stick micro, but lately they also seem to go for the microSD. This is definitely good news for the consumer because he won't have to purchase an other memory card when he decides to buy a new model cell phone. The files on the memory card can be transferred straight from the mobile phone to a computer using a USB cable or a so-called card reader.
